#1 of 3 hotels in Wangi Wangi Island
Patuno Resort Wakatobi is the Wakatobi's most accessible 3 STAR Resort, situated only a 10 minute drive from the Matahora Airport in Wangi-Wangi. The Wakatobi National Marine Park encompasses over 12 thousand hectares of protected marine park and is made up of four main islands; Wangi-Wangi, Kaledupa, Tomia and Binongko. Patuno Resort stretches along a long white sandy beach which is ideal for sunbathing on, snorkeling from, strolling along, or organizing an impromptu barbecue on. A long barrier reef in front of this resort offers great diving and snorkeling opportunities. The breathtaking overhangs and steep walls of colorful corals are teaming with schooling pelagic fish and hammerhead sharks have recently been spotted here too. The resort is designed with natural building materials such as bamboo, teak wood, coconut wood, rattan and palm leaves, adding to the natural ambiance of the island.

I'm afraid most of the comments in previous reviews are correct - the food was not great and beer price (over 100k) was ridiculous. However, the room was good and the setting is picturesque. I don't think the other hotels in the area offer much different in terms of price and facilities.

We read the reviews before we went so our expectations were low. We only chose this because it's 10min from the aiport and we didn't want to wake up too early in the morning. Honestly stay in town, we had to leave at 4h30 am with the hotel free shuttle service and the check in only opens at 5:15 am anyway ( for the only flight at 6am). So staying close doesn't make sense. The room was big and spacious and clean which is the only good thing. The resort is aging, in bad maintenance. The ground are shabby at best, the service team skeletic and doesn't speak English. We waited 40min for the food at the restaurant, and half the menu was not available. We had to look for people to be able to order food. The food is so overpriced and of poor quality it's insulting. Only the manager spoke English and we saw him once at the check in. They were not able to organize or answer the agoda request for a pick up from the pier in Wanci village. We organized it ourselves with our dive center in Tomia. we only paid 500,000 IDR for the night, which was fair - but public price is 1,250,000 IDR for the room category we were in and that price it's a complete rip off. Stay away - or just come with all the worst expectation and they will be met.

We stayed in the 2-storey part of the resort over Christmas (2018). The building is located right at the end of the resort, it's about 10-minute walk from the lobby. The room was damp, the sink in the bathroom was broken, water came straight out. The whole resort is under-maintained. The overall feeling was tired. We stayed there with a group of friends for 3 days. The food served was un-appetizing, not matched with how much they charged. The fish dish only had fish heads. When we complained, they still served fish heads the second night. The only good thing about the place is the view from the jetty. It's a shame as Wakatobi is a beautiful place.

Avoid the Patuno Resort at all costs if you are going to Wangi Wangi - unless you have a predilection for bad service marinated in ennui, gloomy(but clean) rooms with bad air flow and struggling air conditioning, bad food and a 400 meter walk between your room and the dining area. A group of us went there recently because someone had a great experience there about five years ago. The place has apparently gone downhill rapidly since then. We found the service level appalling. People with no passion for what they are doing. Marking time in a resort that's seen better days till the time its taken over or closed down. The food was appalling . Tasteless, not enough and monotonous. The beer there was overpriced. A big bottle of Bintang costs Rp120,000 each, as against the marked up price of Rp50,000 per bottle outside. The staff was so clueless that they allowed us to buy our own beers and chill them in their fridge. You also have to walk great distances to the dining area if you are checked into one of the rooms on the double storey bloc. What's more, the resort is on the east coast, away from the main village and anything else except the airport. So if you want a change of scene or dine out of the hotel its a lot of bother unless you rent a car or bike. Even then you have to travel half the island to get anything decent. There is no decent beach at the hotel. It's mostly limestone rocks next to the sea. Which is great for wondering minds to ty to figure out why they situated the resort there in the first place and why the Sahid group agreed to manage it. The problem is that Wangi Wangi self is not spoilt for choice where accommodation is concerned and we did not have the time to check out the other hotels to provide alternatives. Wangi Wangi itself is no great diving or snorkelling destination. Better for divers and snorkelers to head straight for Tomia. I think there is a Citilink flight that connects Tomia to Bali or Kendari.

We stayed last May, only 1 nite stay before we fly back to makassar. The resort is ok, they have big room and there's beach in front of the room. There is free airport transfer, breakfast is still acceptable.
