This was one of the best experiences we have had on Lake Kariba. A highly experienced guide, introduced us to every plant, insect and animal we encountered. The accommodation at the camp was basic but entirely satisfactory and the food and hospitality was excellent. Highly recommended.

We came fom Europe, not knowing what to expect. But when we got contact with Karl Wright, we had the feeling of something very special. So we left the decisions to him and followed his advice. What a great time we had - Elefant, Hippo, Croc, Impala, Eagel and so on - after 2 days of tracking 3 Lions were...

We were privileged enough to be able to share a very special long weekend with our family, bonding & enjoying the peaceful setting of the Camp - with elephants roaming around us the entire weekend, and the insanely beautiful sunsets & sunrises - you will never experience such beauty anywhere else in the world. We have never slept so well,...

We cannot begin to describe how wonderful our time was at the Rhino Safari camp. The three days we spent there were three of the most thrilling, eye opening & enjoyable days of our lives. We've been back in the States for a week now since leaving the magical country of Zimbabwe and the grounds of Matusadona National Park, and...

We count ourselves hugely privileged to have spend the weekend at Rhino Safari Camp early in December 2014. Rusticly unique and wonderfully comfortable, the rooms leave the local flora and fauna virtually untouched and provide panoramic vistas of the lake shore and the multitude of animals that roam thereon. Karl, Jenny, Steve and their staff make us proud to be...

Four of us made the trip across a bumpy Lake Kariba to arrive at Rhino camp just as the sun was setting. An hour across the lake in a speedy boat was punctuated by a great conversation with Karl about the camp, the lake, the animals and various experiences in what turned out to be one of the most beautiful...

In October 2014 we spent 3 nights of our honeymoon at Rhino Safari Camp and from start to finish it was a simply wonderful experience. With regards to all the pre-arrival arrangements and booking I have never encountered anyone as helpful as Karl. Nothing was too much trouble and all his recommendations and advice were simply excellent and very much...

My family and I have had the pleasure of visiting Rhino Island on an annual basis for the past 7 or so years and as a native Zimbabwean guide, the Rhino experience is as good as it gets. If you are looking for the "glitz & glamour" experience you won't find it here. What you will find at Rhino is...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An luxury rustic bush camp, situated within the Matusadona National Park on the shorelines of Lake Kariba. Guests are accommodated in seven twin bedded stilted wood and thatch chalets, each with its own en suite open air shower and flush toilet. Each chalet is on the edge of the jesse bush, facing the lake so they benefit from the cooling breeze from the water. It is not uncommon to have the wildlife walking in front and around the rooms, which allows for "close and personal" encounters with the game. Game viewing activities include drives, walks and tracking, and sunset cruises all in the company of a professional guide. For those guests who like to drop a line in the water, we also offer fishing for bream and the world renowned tiger fish, and Elephant Point is regarded as an excellent area to fish in. The Matusadona National Park is home to the Big Five, being lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and the endangered black rhino as well as a host of smaller plains game and over 350 species of birds recorded in the area, making it a birders paradise. Rhino Safari Camp can be accessed by speed boat transfer from Kariba or from the nearby Kiplings/Rhokari and Bumi Hills airstrips. Meals are homestyle and freshly prepared at camp and meal times revolve around the game viewing needs of our guests. The guides and camp manager/owner host guests and offer them a relaxed homely environment in which to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the wilderness of the Matusadona National Park. We look forward to your visit....NO FENCES - PURE NATURE ... more   less
