Detailed Reviews
There are 4 secluded cabins on the property. Each has everything you need for a short stay (except food - you need to take that with you). This is definitely a couples only retreat (they specify no children or animals because they intend the stay to be for a couple looking for romance or rest and recuperation). The owners are a generous and friendly couple who give you space to do your own thing. Kayaking up or down Waterpark Creek was a great experience (the dark water provides great reflection of the surrounding trees on the banks).

We were so happy with our stay we booked the next one before we left!! Everything about Byfield Cabins was perfect.
60 acres of rainforest on mirror flat Waterpark Creek, meandering trails with seating throughout to stop and enjoy the many beautiful sights. Ponds and multiple creeks, a gigantic aviary for tiny Australian finches and quails.
The details here are incredible - at the 20 or so wooden seat/table combos we saw on trails there was always a bottle of mozzie spray (not that we needed it). Complimentary chocolate and soft drinks in the fridge, bath bombs, bath salts, so many places at the cabin to relax indoor and out.
Total Privacy in the cabin and garden. You cannot see the next cabin from the cabin or garden. The bed was comfortable, the hammock was a nap waiting to happen.
The cabin is huge, beautifully appointed. Spa bath was relaxing, indoor fire was a great ‘TV’.
It’s also a wildlife reserve and the feel of the place really has a sense of serenity, a gentleness that matches the stillness and sounds of the rainforest.
We stayed in some pretty great cabins here and the in U.S. - for value and experience this is right up there as an all-time favourite.
If you’re living in CQ or travelling through, we couldn’t recommend it more highly!!

One of the most pleasantly surprising cabin experiences I have had anywhere, and so we added an extra night shortly after arriving. The cabin was well designed, airy, cool and beautifully appointed, a balance between simple seclusion and rustic luxury. Kayak, bushwalk, light the fireplace inside or the fire pit outside, swim, or just pick up a book. We saw black cockatoos, kingfishers, fruit doves and curlews not far from our cabin. Everything you need is provided, with the exception of food, and you could go a week without seeing anyone if you wanted to. It's not as far from the world as it seems- about 1/2 an hour from Yeppoon.

Absolutely loved everything about our 4 night stay in this beautiful part of the world. The owners are incredibly professional and work tirelessly to ensure that guests enjoy the best possible getaway experience. The cabins are huge and incredibly well fitted out. The excellent facilities including the fire pit, games area, aviary, kayaks and bikes ensured we were never lost for things to do. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a real Aussie Bush experience; we feel so well rested after our few days away.

This place is fantastic - cabins are quirky and extremely comfortable - we stayed in the 'Emu' cabin. The cabins aren't air-conditioned but the night we stayed they weren't needed as the weather cooled considerably overnight. Kayaking, bike riding and bushwalking are activities if you want to leave the comfort of the cabin and the pool, albeit on the small side, is perfect for cooling off and just relaxing. As we were only staying for the one night we went out for dinner to a place nearby and had breakfast on our way back the next day but basic facilities are there for food prep etc. A beautiful place just to relax and get away from the general grind of everyday living. Hosts were lovely!

If you need a place to relax and disconnect, this is it. Cosy cabins with a spa bath and mainly everything you need supplied apart from food and drink. Listen to the rain pour down while you take in the lush green forest that surrounds you. There is also a pool, games room, rainforest walks and kayaking. Just Perfect 🌿

This is now in my top 10 places to stay. Byfield Cabins is definitely a hidden secret. The cabins are absolutely stunning and they have thought of everything for your stay. Such a relaxing atmosphere that gets you in touch with nature. The walking tracks to the creek are beautiful and the surroundings around the cabins. I highly recommend this place for a recharge and to spend time with your loved one. Do yourself a favour and spend a minimum of 2 nights to fully unwind. You won’t regret it.

The perfect location - cabins were well set up and just what you need if you want to relax. Having access to kayaks was a bonus we were not expecting. We'd love for our extended family to have a gathering there.

While the location and atmosphere of this place is amazing, and we have stayed here before and absolutely loved it, we had not encountered GAZ the owner before. We made an innocent mistake by not reading their compendium or a sign above the BBQ which stated firs were available between 5pm and 8pm. Nothing was mentioned of this rule when we checked in either. There was a sign on the wood pile stating you had to man the fire at all times. I lit a small fire in the outdoor pit at about 2:30pm, and at about 3:00pm GAZ came down, at least I think it was him because he never actually introduced himself and confronted my wife telling her she had to put the fire out. She was confused as she had no idea who he was or why she had to put the fire out, I had been walking on a track near by and heard the talking so walked back to see my wife pouring water on the fire, I said Sorry is there a problem, to have GAZ tell me do I think he is an idiot, I was totally confused as to who he was or what he was on about. he then accused us of lying that we hadn't read the compendium or the sign on the BBQ. At no time were we argumentative or aggresive. GAZ threatened several times to call someone so we would get a massive fine, then said it is C-NTS like us that ruin it for everyone. I said excuse me what did you just call us, he said we were not welcome back, and that he should evict us. I assured him we wouldn't be back. He then said why dont you put a bad post on facebook and tell them what you did. Well I am and I am more than happy to acknowledge that we did the wrong thing, admittedly by mistake and I do understand the consequences of fires getting out of control in bush land. However this type of behavour from someone running a hospitality business is absolutely unbelievable. I chose Tripadvisor to do this review as I note any negative reviews on their own page or not made visible. We loved this place and had planned on going back yearly and using it as a gift via vouchers for family and freinds, needless to say we won't be doing that or recommending this place to anyone, until GAZ is gone at least.
