We only stayed one night as we were on our way to the Gilis but I would have happily stayed here for longer. I immediately wished we'd left Bali sooner for Lombok. We were the only guests that night. It is right beside the entry to the park which was great for my husband's early morning bird watch while I stayed in the hotel swimming. Pure bliss. Also, if you get up early enough, you can see the Javan ebony lutung monkeys just at the entry to the park. They are very elusive so I was very happy to see them. The usual macaques are everywhere. Mango tree hangs over the pool while chilli plants and lime tree grow at the side. The staff were so kind and helpful. The gentle man brought us homemade Lombok snacks from his family which were delicious. Similarly, the breakfast was lovely. Next time we'll stay longer. Best of luck to this charming hideaway.

Great small villa for a family holiday. This villa has 3 rooms and is quite new. Very clean and quiet. The housekeeper (Iskandar) is very polite and make nice breakfast. The only thing that I could put my finger on - the room has strong mildew smell/musty when we first arrived. However, onced the aircon is turned on for a while, it helped eliminate the odour. The rooms are clean and very spacious! Definitely a great place to have relaxing time with family.

Every now and then, there comes a moment in my travels where I have to make the "tell/don't tell" decision. I find some kind of place or spot (usually without a lot of reviews) and decide to go ahead and take a chance - only to find myself experiencing something so magical and mind-blowing that it becomes the defining moment of my trip. This is exactly what happened with Villa Collard. I had spent about a week at Kuta Lombok and wasn't wild about the area and the place I had booked. Plus, I was travelling solo for the first time in Indonesia and had a lot of questions and hesitations, which made it even harder for me to pick a place in Senggigi. On a whim, I decided to go with Villa Collard. Here are the reasons why Villa Collard became one of the most memorable places I've ever stayed, with some tips in case you decide to book it for yourself. - The villa sits off the main strip, at the end of a long, rutted dirt road. This is a good thing if you like quiet, but also because it's just a 5 minute walk to the Puri Mas spa (not the hotel, but the spa) and just outside the gate of a butterfly sanctuary and park with amazing swimming holes and waterfalls. - There are three bedrooms at the villa. If you're lucky like me, you'll be the only guest and have THE ENTIRE VILLA to yourself. You are the only person floating in the pool, you have your pick of the rooms (number 1 & 2 are bigger and the bathrooms are better in my opinion) and the dozen or so lounge chairs, you have 100% of the staff's attention who are ready to cook you anything you want or make your food extra spicy or take you by scooter to the local sites or whatever suits your fancy, you can be really quiet so the monkeys come to visit in the evening and jump around the treetops overhead. - The villa is set back in the middle of the forest with staff who are so kind they feel like good friends after a day or two. This made me feel like I was more exposed to the local culture than I probably would have been at the high rise hotels. At the same time, this villa was designed by an Aussie with a background in architecture, so it has stunning lines and nice conveniences that I appreciated. Loved the bed and shower! - I needed to switch the dates of my booking, and the staff were totally accommodating. - This is really more of a 4-star resort in my opinion and what I paid per night was so low it bordered on the absurd - even for Indonesia! Of course I was lucky to have the place all to myself, and I'm not sure if having other guests would detract from the magic. - As a solo woman traveler, I felt totally safe here. The neighborhood was quiet and there's a security guard who stays each night. - In the south at Kuta Lombok, I had a few restless Ramadan/rooster crowing nights despite good earplugs. You could hear some of the prayers and roosters outside at Villa Collard, but the bedroom walls were solid and sound proof and the fan and a/c helped to block out all of the nighttime noises. - Get ready for an amazing breakfast of pretty much whatever your heart desires. The staff can also cook you lunch for a small fee. Ishkandar will even make you some springrolls and pack them up beautifully in a takeaway box for your flight home. A few other tips from my visit - The community space (living room and kitchen) are nice but I didn't use them. I love to cook but figure why bother in a place like Indonesia? Plus, the staff use the community space to cook and also come in and out during the day and the security guard hangs out there overnight. I would say if having a full private kitchen and indoor community space are important, you might want to look at a full house b&b rental or something like that. - Probably good to rent a scooter if you want to go out to dinner or otherwise go exploring. Hope this tips are helpful and hope you love Villa Collard as much as I did if you decide to book it.

We arrived very tired and late in Sengiggi. Looked for a nice/affordable place. Found this villa. Booked it and within an hour the whole staff (1-4 people) arrived, took care of us. Beautiful villa. Awesome pool. Great bedrooms. We didn't miss a thing. The staff did almost too much. And the friendliest I've ever seen. Beer and Softdrinks are available. Prices are good. Wifi available. Breakfast included. Lunch available, both will be cooked in front of you.
