Barra Mansa is in a wonderfully remote location. Roads are poor so a light aircraft flight to get there is pretty essential (expect two approaches to the ranch's airstrip - the first is just to frighten the cows off the runway). The accommodation is basic, but air-conditioned and clean. It has the authenticity of feeling like an old ranch rather...

As I just happened to be running in the Olympic Torch Relay in the remote location of Dourados, I contacted Imagine Latin America to see if they had any suggestions for a holiday in the same area. Sinead and Millie suggested Barra Mansa, and what a great trip we had! We were met by Victor, our friendly, hugely knowledgeable English...

Everything about this place is nature. Their staff is really knowledgeable, friendly and well organized. We went with our 5yr and 2yr old daughters and enjoyed every activity we did, from fishing piranhas to horseback riding. We've never done organized tours before and were a bit apprehensive at the idea and the cost but Polliana at Bravo tours was super...

We have never been on a tour before but because I couldn'd figure out how to do the Pantanal on my own I contacted Polliana at Bravo Expeditions who arranged everything. Though not "budget" this stay was worth the expense. We spent four nights in June at Fazenda Barra Mansa arranged through Polliana at BravoExpeditions. The accommodations are simple but...

Barra Mansa is on a par with the very best safari lodges in Africa. The lodge is very comfortable without being luxurious so you get a more genuine experience, a little truer to its cattle ranch roots. You do 2 wildlife activities every day, including boating, kayaking and fishing for piranha on the Rio Negro, plus horse riding, walking and...

We had a wonderful time at Fazenda Barra Mansa. The staff is professional and very friendly, Guilherme, the owner, is a great guy and a wonderful host and than... NATURE! If you are looking to see nature in its pure form, go there. Plants, river, lakes, birds and animals, lots of them. We visited the lodge at the dry season.

I was on a eco-tour. We took several boat trips and some night drives. The most exciting animals we saw were a puma and some giant river otters. The most impressive sight though was rounding a corner on a night drive and encountering 30 or so caiman in a shallow pool where the road crossed. All their eyes glowed red....

Our experience was brilliant from booking direct with Polliana and Daniel to the transfers to and from Campo Grande (by air, in our case). This is a stunning, unspoilt location and so quiet! It is a wonderful, natural place with diverse habitats. The organised trips were excellent and varied - the canoeing and horse riding were our favourites. We were...

We stayed for 4 nights at Barra Mansa which was organised through Imagine LatinAmerica. What an amazing experience, we stayed in the guest house and were met by our host Daniel and guide. Trips were organised for us mornings and afternoons, the horse riding and canoeing trips were undoubtedly the best, unforgettable experience. Daniel is a great host, very hospitable...

This is the most comfortable and lovely lodge that I have ever stayed. It has everything a traveller would need. Besides basic facilities, the accommodating owner Daniel and the dedicated staff, especially our guides have won themselves a gold medal. I would love to go back to Pantanal just to visit this lovely place if I have a chance.
