#1 of 1 motel in Brooklyn

The Guiding Star Hotel was constructed in about 1930, incorporating an earlier building related to the undeveloped village of Brooklyn. Built on a Spanish Mission style, stuccoed, two-storey hotel, with Cordova tiles to a hipped roof and eaves broken by projecting parapets above the two side entries and the main corner entry. The Guiding Star is the last standing Hotel in Brooklyn. The Guiding Star Hotel Motel is of local historical and architectural significance as a relatively large and elaborate hotel built to serve the arterial traffic of the Geelong Road, and the industrial activities in the Brooklyn area. The Guiding Star Hotel Motel is a complete venue with the traditional pub grub food, entertainment, accommodation, a Thirsty Camel Bottle Shop and its own Drive thru Coffee Shop. It caters for the workmanlike crowd, truck drivers, tradies and travellers on their way to Melbourne seeking an affordable, clean and tidy accommodation. The Motel has been recently renovated. Includes 20 accommodation units with air conditioning, TV with FOXTEL, double glass window, comfortable bed, hot shower, clean Bathroom and plenty of parking space. It is conveniently located close to the Avalon Airport and just 11km from Melbourne CBD. The point of difference is the Pub next door providing a reasonably priced full bistro menu, cold beer and entertainment. The Bottle Shop and Coffee Shop come in handy for those seeking a bargain. The friendly staff is plus.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The reception is friendly, meals are great extremely filling, beers are cold . The situation of the motel is the issue . Traffic never stops creating a small window of opportunity for a good night sleep. The rooms are clean and very tidy Coffee and tea are provided Beds are comfortable The let down is the constant noise of Traffic

Wonderful secure comfortable rooms with ample parking spaces n just wonderful friendly staff. Even the cleaners were so friendly. Nice spacious room with a small toilet n shower area but it was just the right size. PIN number locks were another assuring thing about it

Our stay was excellent. Bed linen was crisp and fresh (though no top sheet and bottom sheet wasn’t fitted, it was just a flat sheet). Bathroom was a bit dated but everything was clean. Thankyou for our stay

We arrived to find the reception closed and was directed to bottle shop, the guy finally came and told us to go to the hotel bar, we entered and he pointed to see the other guy at the bar who was very pleasant, got our key and entered the room to find no iron but an ironing board. So went to get a bottle of wine to take for dinner at bottleshop and had the same mid 50s/60, guy, we had when we first arrived. After paying for my bottle I asked if they would have an iron as there is a ironing board but no iron in the room , he replied we want have one they get pinched, so I replied 'so you can't provide one for me? He replied i said ' I'll have a look 🙄' asked my room number and I went back to my room in absolute disgusted to be spoken to so rudely. He then dropped one of with no apology or a word... We had been on holidays for 8 days and going out for dinner and wanted to iron some clothes ... understand they get stolen but didn't need to be spoken to like this🙄🤔😡

I've stayed here to work nearby multiple times now for multiple nights, fantastic service from the staff, really friendly and inviting, great feed at the bar, clean comfortable and easily accessible rooms, pricing varies but some nights I've only paid $85. Ripper deal.

I had a standard queen, $100. My room was clean, bed & pillows were comfortable. The staff were friendly. The pub meal was fresh n delicious and very good size servings. Bottleshop right there. TV worked, air cond worked. Budget place but a nice standard. It was 2 min drive from my training location the next day. The cups for coffee looked a bit old. Instant coffee satchets looked a bit old. My feedback is a lanyard around your neck for the door keycard cos you dont want the inconvenience of leaving keycard in room and locked out.....I did the following morning 😣....check its with u b4 closing the door.

Very basic room, for $90 a night you would expect the rooms to at least smell decent. Not the case unfortunately. Do yourself a favour and pay the extra $20/$30 for a nicer place somewhere else. Pillows might as well of been none existent. They were so flat, so if you do stay here BYO pillow! Air conditioner looked like it hadn't been cleaned since it was installed. Just made the room feel unclean with the smell.

Located along the highway, and mostly industrial there was nothing close by for dining. The Motel serves a lmted menu, however nothing for the weekend. Since we were there on Saturday Night we needed to drive a little ways to find something suitable. The room looks newly remodeled and was clean, however it still smelled of smoke. Not enough hot water for two quick morning showers, which was disappointing.

As I live in Werribee and was meeting with someone from the city, I needed a place that was halfway between the two. This motel was both conveniently located and excellent value. I would definitely stay here again.

Owner was very polite and friendly, the room was clean, and not much noise from traffic. We arrived just before 8pm not realising they close at 6, but the owner gave us to 8 to check in, which was very nice of him as he didn't have my number to call me....Next time i will ring ahead...Overall cheap place to stay and we were extremely happy as place was clean tidy, plenty of hot water with excellent pressure.....
