Food was average. They provide Indian food, and being an Indian myself, I was craving for it. So, I made repeated attempts to visit. But, have to give it to them that they provide India food, in a place where no one can think about it, lest get it. May be due to lack of customers or off-season due to Covid19, they don't have any thing in the menu, except Rogan Josh. 'Solo Rogan Josh disponible Senor'. I had a dinner one evening of Rogan Josh. I found they were heating it in microwave. But it tasted okay. Naan(Indian Bread) were not that good. Rice was damn good and seems fresh. Had two glasses of red-wine, it was muy bien sabrosa (excellent). Then I visited again with a day's gap, and again they told me that they have Rogan Josh only. They told me that Chicken(Pollo) dish will be available only later at night. I am not sure if it is due to Covid19 situation or because the town has so many options available for eateries all over the place, it seems they don't have much options in food. And, then I again went there one more time, and found it closed.…
Nice ambiance in a quiet area of town (rooster excepted). Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable beds. Clean. Two excellent showers attached to the 6-bed dorm. Attention to detail e.g. small piece of soap added to the towel. Early morning staff moves around quietly. Kitchen facility is limited (thermos with hot water to make tea; thermos with good coffee), though whenever I had a request it was honored (e.g. boiling water to add to instant noodles). There is only one major light switch in the dorm room. There is a restaurant on the premises (closes after 9PM).
We spent two nights there. The first night our bus was so slow (9hours from medellin) so we arrived very late at the hostel. But the owner was very nice and we even got food past the kitchen closing time. You have to try the curry! Its amazing and something different if you have spent a month travelling through colombia like us. We had a room in the apartment , located a 5min walk from the main building. The room was spacious, quiet for colombian standards and very clean. We can really recommend this hostel!!!
I stayed here during a three week flashpacking trip through Colombia. Casa La Eliana is located at the edge of town but right where some of the best restaurants are – e.g. „Brunch“, an American diner that really made our stay here in Salento. The regular doubles face the street and use a shared bathroom. The superior rooms are on the opposite side and share a shady balcony with beautiful views of the city and the mountains. Great for chilling out in the afternoon after a long hike or watching the town wake up in the mornings. Staff was real nice, no room service though. There was no breakfast service – or at least I didn‘t get where and when. Again – „Brunch“ ;-). The Indian restaurant downstairs is a welcome change from the usual Colombian fare but didn‘t really hit the spot for me, living in Berlin with exceptional Indian cuisine. Overall thumbs up for Casa La Eliana!…
The hostel is divided into two houses. In the main house there are the dorms and in the other separated one the single rooms. The owner talks English very well and provides you a lot of information what to do in and around Salento. There is free coffee and tea all the time, at least in the main house. The hostel is very clean and the single rooms as spacious (the dorms we don‘t know). The kitchen in the separated house is big and has more or less everything you need. Would be good if it has oil and vinegar. The shower is ok but the water pressure could be little better. If you stay in the separated house ensure that you don‘t have the room at the front side (close to the street) as this is the main road and there is continuing traffic, which is sometimes very loud! Besides that the hostel was perfect and we would go there any time again!…
