Beautiful estate located in a quiet countryside in Northern Italy. Welcoming and very friendly owners. Delicious breakfast and dinner, with local products. Well maintained swimming pool. Located not far from the thermal baths of Salice (closed at the moment, but which should open soon) and Ravanazzano.

My husband and I stayed at the Agriturismo Terensano for one night, and it was an amazing experience! When we arrived we were greeted by the owners and they showed us to our room. It was very clean and comfortable. We freshened up and then walked around the property, which consists of a farm, vineyard and outdoor pool area. Before dinner all of the guests gathered outside on the patio and we had some wine and listened to the hosts friend play the guitar for us. The 5 course dinner was unreal, everything was fresh from the farm. The wine was superb. We sang and danced and met some great people. It was truly an authentic Italian experience!

The guest house is attached to a vineyard and wines served are from the estate. The welcome was wonderful (we were served fresh peach juice on arrival) and the room fitted out to a good standard (with a modern bathroom). Food as others have mentioned is a fixed menu. We were served four wonderful courses of excellent Italian dishes. We found this on the Logis website where it is described as an hotel. It most defiantly is not a hotel but this does not detract in anyway. Also as others have mentioned we found it a little difficult to find and our (usually very dependable) sat nav failed with the address. I would suggest checking the location carefully before setting off - it is set off a main road and very easy to find if you know where! As the owner has next to no English and we have next to no Italian we got by with a little French which was adequate for all our needs.

The usual hosts that other reviewers rave about were on holiday for our stay. Given that this agriturismo seems to be based on the personal touch, it would have been for them to have informed us of this before / when we booked. It was priced slightly higher than many similar arrangements and so we had fairly high hopes. Overall, we felt that the place was poor value for money and not a great experience.

We were greeted by a woman who was nice but spoke an eastern european language and Italian but no english at all. We do speak various other languages but not italian - and the agriturismo had claimed to have english-speakers. The woman knew very little about the property - not even the price of dinner. The rest of our stay was characterised by a total lack of communication. We didn't feel particularly welcome compared with other stays on vineyards / farms in Europe.

We asked for a vegetarian option at dinner (which the agriturismo claims to provide) and were given the options of omelette or ricotta (with no mention of a reduction in the 40ish Euro pricetag), which was clearly ridiculous.

We had booked a normal room but were given a self-catering flat and told that, if we used the kitchenette, we would have to pay for it!

The breakfast was very 70s and not fresh at all. There was a fruit salad covered in icing sugar, and then various pre-packed items such as sponge and biscuits. Unpleasant. In similar accommodation, we are used to fresh home-made breads etc.

The pool area was attractive and had a little jacuzzi that we were not told how to operate. But the daughter of the owners invited four or five of her friends over for a little pool party on both the Saturday and the Sunday. They were not too noisy but they did dominate the pool and the pool-side area. There were also not enough sunloungers for all of us so, naturally, as paying guests, we were the ones to end up having to sit on the floor!

The room was newly-renovated in quite a 70s style. It was comfortable enough, but very hot. There was a fan but no a/c and no mosquito covers on the windows so it was pretty hot.

The grounds were quite nice but we were not shown around them or given any information about them.

There was a pretty view of a little village up on the hill.

The nearby town of Tortona provided a lovely stroll on a Saturday morning.

A particular Piedmontese light greets you as you walk up the drive to Valentina and Luigi's beautiful Ottocento house which has been sensitively added to over the years, passing through the elegant archway and original courtyard to a larger courtyard where you are shown by Rumi or Daniel to your spacious bedroom and adjoining bathroom, all very tastefully decorated and with nice personal touches. Refreshing, spotlessly clean, salt-water swimming pool (no chlorine) The home cooking is highly recommended. There is no menu as a succession of dishes appear - tartare of pork and salami with ricotta, accompanied by two delicious side salsas - one with parsley, parmesan and extra virgin olive oil, the other, tomato, garlic and peperoncino. This was followed by deconstructed lasagne (no bechamel) with fresh tomato and green peperoni (it was so good that Luigi insisted on my having a second bowl), thinly sliced pork with braised endive and celery. Very good bottle of Barbera from their vineyard that has existed for centuries. Note that if you are vegetarian, be sure to alert Valentina in advance. Breakfast was delicious - local peaches (for which Piedmont is famous), dainty Italian pastries, yogurts, homemade preserves. You are treated as their special guests by the owners which is fairly rare in this day and age.

We arrived here after and long hard driving and in all my time of using Logis de France in France I have never had such a warm welcome as we did here - Valentina gave us hugs and kisses and the warmest 'Bienvenuto in mia casa' one could ever hope for! Our room was rustic but clearly recently modernised and dinner was 'table d'hôte' style and we could not fault it (well other than we maybe needed less or at least half a day to eat it all), breakfast equally good - could not resist buying a box of the excellent wine (own vineyard) we had drunk at dinner and were gifted with homemade jelly..........just wish we had more than one brief night there and the time to explore the area...when can I go back?

We spent one night at this charming establishment among the vineyards of Cortese on our way from Milan to Genoa. There are many buildings in this large agriturismo and we had a small, simple bedroom (#1) in the back area. The room was very clean, with a wardrobe, suitcase rack, table and chair, with double bed and window facing the cobbled courtyard. It was certainly quiet and a little chilly in the morning. Some people would find the bathroom small, and it took a few minutes for the water to get warm enough for bathing. The price included wifi and breakfast; there was ample parking in the lower lot. (Travel light since you cannot drive all the way to the entrance of the house.) We had dinner on a windy evening on their covered terrace, and it was delicious! Everything tasted home made: Veal pate, pumpkin soup au gratin, pasta with tomato ragu, boned chicken cooked with greens, and an apple tart. We drank the owner's Timorasso 2010. Breakfast included fresh fruit, bread and jam, eggs with cheese, and juice. The owners are very friendly and speak excellent English compared to our tourist Italian. Be sure to get good directions to Monleale and find the Agriturismo right outside of town. It was fairly easy to get to Tortona from Monleale and then take the autostrade to Genoa (about a 2 hour drive with some traffic).

An out of the way Agriturismo that is superb. Rooms are definitely not modern and restaurant is not pretentious but is superb. We have stayed here regularly over recent years and never been disappointed. WiFi is possible dependent where you are. This is a working wine estate and is a no-frills place to stay but is very, very good. There are not many rooms here so early booking is advisable.

This was our second visit and won’t be our last. We travel throughout Italy, but this is where we feel at home. It ticks all the boxes for us and the hosts: Luigi & Valentina are simply the best. Luigi, a former ex rally champion, took us on a white-knuckle tour of his vineyards in his jeep. What a drive! Valentina is a great cook and was very accommodating with our eldest son who is dairy-free. Ciao Valentina e Luigi e a dopo x

Everything you imagend and hoped your Italian vacation to be, and more. We had the times of our lives. The place, the surroundings, the food, the wine, and most important: the hosts! the most charming hosts you can have. Valentina and Luigi (and Francis), you set the bar very high for any next location we'll visit.
