We were boating the Rideau Canal and stopped here for the evening.
After check-in, we went for happy hour/supper. OMG, they had the friendliest waitresses. Just listening to them at other table brought smiles to our faces.
We had the Blue Cod fish and chips and the pork souvlaki. Both meals were excellent, the French fries were amazing and we overheard other tables commenting on them as well.
Then we shared a peach cobbler for dessert which was also delicious.
After a great sleep in our comfortable bed, we enjoyed a great breakfast which was included with our room. The eggs, sausage or bacon, toast and potatoes were a great start to the day.
Maybe the best thing we could say is that we would gladly stay here again.

Been frequenting Hotel Kenney every summer for years now, and have eaten at the Hotel but mostly went to the nostalgic snack bar for breakfasts and ice cream. Went to Hotel Kenney a few times with different friends who wanted to go there and experience the Hotel, locks etc..in the summer of 2011. The Inn is beautiful and has retained for the most part it's historical charm and beauty. The scenery is splendid. The Hotel food on the three occasions that I went, was okay. Not bad, have had better, but it was okay. The waitress's were friendly and accommodating. But the lady at the front desk who called herself the manager, was very unfriendly and un-accommodating. She seemed angry and with a scowl on her face and we heard her being angry and saying nasty words to the other friendly staff. Certainly not a good presence or representative for the old Hotel. We were glad that she did not serve us our food. Also, when going last summer, we could not get our favorite breakfast at the snack bar anymore. They do not serve it anymore and are not even open anymore in the mornings. We use to love going every weekend for breakfast there. Sometimes we had to wait for a table because it was so busy in there and on their porch. And there is no more store either and the old familiar friendly face's of the ladies that served us all the time arel gone. Not sure what has happened at the grand Hotel Kenney in the past couple of years as a whole, but surely some mis-management and poor choices and decisions have been made....It is still a beautiful place to go and see, with the canal and locks there.

We enjoyed a rainy weekend at the hotel during a cool October. Despite the weather the hotel was cosy, the food was enjoyable, and the staff were outstanding. For a place only open in the warmer seasons it is rusticly pretty, and the location is truly unique. A hidden gem!

We were on a rental boat and had to stay at the bottom of Jones Falls as the locks were closed when we arrived. Since we had a Parks Canada pass, we could have moored there at no charge but Hotel Kenny had power and water. We decided to stay there instead and although we had to pay to moor there, it wasn't expensive. When we arrived one young lady came out as well as the owner to help us dock. Although we had planned to have dinner on the boat, we decided to go to their restaurant. I have the beef dip and it was great. We didn't have a hose on our boat but the owner leant us one so I could wash the decks. I met the other owner when I was out for a walk and am these guys are committed to ensuring that their guests have a great experience. Not sure how they can make a decent income for such a short season on the waterway but they are certainly passionate and have a wonderful property. Highly recommend that you check it out.

This used to be a cool place with some old style glory. So disappointed! Prices for accommodations are outrageous. Nothing worked, AC is useless, paint peeling off walls, fan didn’t work, WIFI useless., water pressure useless, beds awful.
Somehow this place reminded us of “The Shining”. I was waiting for Jack…

Went into snack bar for an ice cream cone for the second time this year.Giving it a second chance after I thought the first cone was not very good. Same experience. If they are going to charge $6.00 plus tax they should offer a quality product.
In addition ,the young man who served me ran his hand thru his hair before picking a cone out of a box. Yuk. Disappointed

We ate at Kennedy's 3 years ago during the peak summer period and found the place busy with boats and tourists milling around.
Last week we drove in to have another look at the locks and were shocked to find the entire place a ghost town.
Kennedy's was closed, looked run down and the businesses across the street were also deserted.
We actually parked our RV in the middle of the road and ate lunch, not a sole, boat or cottager in site for 2 hours.
We later found out the place is up for sale .... good luck.
We packed up and left saying "what happened" it feels like we just left the Twilight zone.

Visited Jones Falls and decided to eat at the Kenney restaurant. Staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Service was excellent. The menu was original and I give credit to the establishment for offering a unique cuisine for the area. Ordered the souvlaki platter, fish and chips and butter chicken. All items were absolutely delicious…in fact we returned for another meal during our vacation. Under new management and making improvements…I would absolutely recommend visiting this restaurant.

I was in a large group for a family reunion. It's the prettiest lock on the Rideau Canal, and the hotel is old-style and comfortable. The people who bought the place last year are wonderful: good food, very accommodating of our needs. Everyone loved the location, the food, and the hotel's dog.

New owners have done wonders in the past couple years. Nothing but good things to say about our overnight stay, dinner and the complementary breakfast. We were a bit unsure about the dining situation - there is so much more available than what is noted on their website. But there is a full dinner menu and on the weekend an amazing brunch which was included with the room.
