We are the so called "Amanjunkies" and have visited more than 15 Aman Resorts around the world. Amanera is one of the best Aman Resorts for anyone to experience. The staff is amazing and super friendly, catering to everything we can dream of. This is done in the most Aman way, subtle and elegant. Thank you to the whole Amanera team for this most special experience.

The area is rugged and natural, definitely feel like away from everything. The lobby building is very big, lots of space, tall and open air, minimalist. There is a lot of staff who are all very friendly. The casitas are as expected for Aman, clean, unobtrusive aesthetics, very big. The outdoor spaces are very big too and a nice place to relax and enjoy the surroundings and oceanview. Beach club is awesome aerying. Quiet beach, big tall ceiling, open space. Breakfast at lobby building is good, beach club food is ok. Main reason for coming this way was to play golf at Playa Grande. The relationship b/w Aman and Playa Grande is confusing but hotel provides transpo to golf. Meals at Playa Grande venues were very good and contrast to quieter, elegant setting at the hotel. The gym at hotel has regular weights and cardio stuff and battle ropes, tires, TRX , rower on the patio. There is a yoga stretching platform out on the field. Nice place to chill out but not a lot to do around the area, a couple days visit was good for a weekend golf trip.

The staff is amazing and that makes this property memorable. From the servers, the room attendants, the drivers, to the spa and golf shop staff - all locals who greet you with smiles (under their ever present masks) and words of kindness. This was my first time at an "Aman" always having resisted because of the over the top pricing. Not that we don't normally spend (see other reviews); Aman properties just always seemed too much comparatively. And, it is ridiculously expensive, as other reviewers have noted - but we did enjoy our entire stay without any real complaint. The location is absolutely breathtaking - perched atop a cliff overlooking the beach and surrounded by the Playa Grande golf course. (I still really don't understand the link between the two properties). The casitas are spacious and most have pools. I wouldn't call the food true gourmet, but we enjoyed the varied offerings. Excellent spa treatments but don't expect a full on spa like atmosphere. The setting overall is extremely relaxing and very serene. If you are looking to escape to an island that is accepting visitors without the hassle of COVID testing, etc, and can spend the money, go for it.

We picked amanera as our honeymoon destination… emailed them in advance to let them know and to inquire if we could have a specific casita. While the property wasn’t even at 50% capacity they didn’t attempt at all.
We loved the property and the friendly staff. The food was okay in the main restaurant and much better at the beach club. I am disappointed at the management for not even doing anything special even tho they knew it was a honeymoon and a special celebration. There was no extraordinary welcome or at turndown anything special.
What really bothered me is that we did a lot of the excursions and they really nickel and dime you …. A ceviche class gets 18% service fee and the gratuity added to it since it was hosted at the beach club kitchen. I would definitely not recommend doing their excursions as I feel like that’s where they really just stack it on. Also the package included all meals and they also don’t take into consideration the concept of not nickel and dimming there… when guests stay 5 nights have some common sense and definitely don’t make them feel they are okay getting taken advantage of... I would love to see if any of the other Aman resorts are similar or not?

I've been here for a week with my adult daughter. This property is exquisite in every way. Within just a couple of days we were so relaxed - when elsewhere that process takes much longer. The people that work here are the happiest and most accommodating I've every experienced. The service is beyond your expectations. My daughter had her 25th birthday here and they made it so special in so many ways. I'm so grateful. I've been to many tropical beaches in my life but this is by far the most peaceful and beautiful. We rarely saw another person on a beach that is a mile long. The water is the most beautiful different colors of blue. We did several excursions while here: hike to nearby mountain top, snorkeling/cave tour, tour of the local cenote called Lagoon Dudu which was really fun, and deep sea fishing. We did not catch a fish that day but the staff on board was very professional and we enjoyed being out on the water. The rooms here are spectacular and beyond spacious to say the least, and very private. The main infinity pool over looks the ocean and is one of the most beautiful pools I've ever been in. We usually had it to ourselves. The food at the main restaurant and at the one by the beach is delicious. Ask for the in room dining menu if you want something simple. But it's Aman so you can just ask for what you want whether it's on the menu or not. And as usual for Aman properties there are no individual meal checks which I ADORE. Plus, we never had to make a reservation for any meal. Amangiri will remain my favorite Aman property but this one is a close second. Clearly the part of the island this property is on was specially selected for it's seclusion. It's very special! Thank you everyone at Amanera for a wonderful vacation!

Located in a secluded region of the DR with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean from most of the property!
We stayed 5 nights in spacious Casita 17 with floor to ceiling windows that allowed the exotic & lush landscape to become walls of art! Equipped with a separate seating & bath area, outdoor living area with private pool & outdoor shower, you won’t want to leave this magnificent venue where views of the Ocean are seen from the comfort of a luxurious kind size bed! Lighting, air conditioning & room darkening shades are controlled by smart home technology!
Amenities included an array of local snacks, flat and sparkling water and each night a special treat highlighting examples of the unique culture as part of the educational offerings.
We enjoyed working out with the instructors, learning to paddle-board and hiking through the neighboring jungle, tasting hand-picked fruit along the way!
Finally, we cannot say enough about the exceptional staff which included Eric, Joma, Freddy, Leonardo, Maria, Carlos David, Daniel, Jazmin among others who anticipated our every need. Daily we were asked if we had everything we needed, and we even chatted with GM Larry before our departure.
Given the elements, the property is in need of some maintenance & repair which was already planned shortly after our departure!
We plan on returning, God-willing, very soon, and many times!

If you’re looking for one of the most stunning beaches on earth, amazing viewpoints, a relaxing atmosphere, top class food and infrastructure, this is the place to be. Almost 300 employees make sure that the stay of the limited number of guests in the 25 casitas is truly exceptional. Thank you for a wonderful week!

We just love the entire experience ! There is no signage for the property and as such you have a feeling of a remote, lush property. The chic , open air architecture, the fabulous suites.. the drama of wild windswept ocean all contribute to an amazing sense of place… The staff is congenial and top notch. Lionel the GM is omnipresent. Service outstanding. I love the little gifts they leave in your room when you return from dinner! We love to swim so we would walk to the public beach where the water is less challenging. It’s a lovely daily hike. I love to shop so I wish the gift shop was more varied. There are some Dominican products but mostly the Aman line of clothes and products which are not interesting. Had great massages at the spa!

If you are already considering a stay at Amanera, just book it now and save yourself some time. It is going to be very hard to find anything comparable to the experience you will have at Amanera. There is a long drive from the airport to the resort, but the grounds are so breathtakingly beautiful that you will forget all about the drive within a few minutes of being there. The casitas are roomy and chic and the food is top-notch. There are plenty of activities available to guests, but you will be so relaxed and calm throughout your stay that you won't want to leave the grounds. But the number one thing about this place is the service. From the moment you get there, you are surrounded by people that are committed to you having an incredible stay. They pay attention and tailor their service towards your wants and needs. Just book it already! You won't regret it.

I cannot speak of the wind and weather in March as we went in July. The weather was spectacular and there was no wind when we were there. The pool was not heated but it was the perfect temperature for us.
Again-this isn’t meant as a family resort but if your kids are easy and don’t require a lot of entertainment/activities, then I would recommend it for a family.

We were in casita 9 and the only people who could possibly see into our pool were those standing on the balcony of the main building (but that’s a stretch and they’d need binoculars to see any details). And that’s only if you’re standing up on the patio. If laying in the pool, nobody could see into ours due to the thick landscaping.
