Absolutely perfect for families and so much fun, we had a brilliant time and will be coming back again in November. Everything you need in one place. The restaurants and entertainment are great too. The pool is absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend visiting.
Chose to go french due to the significant difference in price compared to UK (half price),. This resort is a little dated but has nowhere near as many properties as uk destinations so activities are always available. A traffic free 2hrs 20mins from Calais. Had an issue with change of property due to flooding which I would have liked dealt with a little better and this did have an impact on our first couple of days. Staff are friendly and cost of activities are great compared to the uk sites. Would go again to france but try another resort.
Great 5 days at this centreparcs. We had a premium cottage and it did feel quite dated and could do with modernising. The park itself was really good. Lots of activities to choose from and a really good aqua mundo. Park was clean. The restaurants are quite reasonable and Mcdonalds made it easy for a quick snack for children/adults
It's a shame. All the right elements are there, but the houses, and indeed the whole site, are run down and in need of a good clean. Not great during a pandemic. Our cottage was dirty (I washed everything in the kitchen before it was used, cobwebs and dead insects everywhere in the house) and the kitchen appliances were old and dirty. My two young boys enjoyed the facilities, but for me this was not the relaxing escape I was hoping for.
It was our second stay at the Center Parcs. We visited Lac d'Ailette in the summer of 2019, shortly after the parc was renewed. We fell in love with the beauty of our lakeview house and the beautiful Picardie just so much that we always wanted to come back. This summer, after all the Covid struggles, we finally got to. We were realistic enough to know that after two years, the quality would have gone downhill a bit and we cannot expect the nearly new codition that we met when we came here first. Plus, there was (and is) still Corona, so we came here, knowing that a lot of the facilities wouldn't be available for us during our stay. We were okay with that. So we booked and we made it to the Lac again. I cannot tell you how much of a difference it was between 2019 and 2021. We had a different house this time, a lakeview one again. We made the most miserable choice with house number 844 as the house is on the very edge of the lake and your cottage is surrounded by mostly mud instead of water. There was also lots and lots of garbage floating around our terrace and it was, in fact, so dirty that nearly no swans or gooses or ducks ever made their way to us (except for one duck). Avoid this cottage number at all cost, it's the worst one of the park, I am sure. The cottage itself was not very clean this time, there was a huge blood stain on the floor of the livingroom, the shower wasn't very clean, creepy crawlies all over and it was also very outlived. There were holes in the wall, furniture fell apart, TV wouldn't work and same with the dishwasher, to name just a few things. As mentioned before, you cannot expect a fresh new house everytime you visit Center Parcs, but a clean and well maintained one shouldn't be an expectation too high to meet. Getting help in this park is rather tricky too if you aren't fluent in French. Most of the staff doesn't speak English (or maybe they don't want to) and I could imagine that this is a huge problem for someone who doesn't speak their language. Speaking in general... It's a typical Center Parcs. You are offered the Aqua Mundo (a nice one!), the typical activities, such as minigolf, kids workshops, kids farm and more and of course the mostly low quality restaurants (Creperie is good enough to recommend though). But this park comes with its own Mc Donalds and a small Starbucks counter, which is nice. You also get a small sandy beach, but it's mostly full of poop from the swans. I mean, that's nature, but it doesn't make for a good time at the beach. Always go for a lakeview cottage when booking here, it's so worth the price. The view over the lake is amazing, especially around sunset time. Sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine and enjoying the swans flying over the lake, that is the definition of a great time. A few things that we also enjoyed a lot include: -The fitness trail (our daughter loved that, it's like a little gem) -The long distances that make for perfect strolling possibilities -The food delivery (pizza was nice, chocolate fondue not so much) -The surrounding area (go to Reims! It's really a nice city. And try the vending machines from the local farm in Laon) We will come back to this park, to a very different cottage number and with high hopes that things will improve within a year. It's time to level up, Lac d'Ailette, it's time!…
