These cottages may be heritage and from a bygone era but they are comfortable , cosy even in cold weather with great gas heating in the lounge, simplex heaters I. Bedrooms and a modern bathroom. The kitchens are well equipped. A great base to explore the Flinders Chase area

Wow - amazing place to stay. Fully equipped with all the small things taken care of - bit of milk in fridge, sauces and condiments, a bar of soap etc. Bathroom looks newly renovated - 5 star. But the traditional wood fired log stove is available alongside the gas/electric and the microwave. Terrific history and a short walk to lighthouse,...

A bit if drive on so great roads but that is part of the adventure Also plenty of sightseeing stops on the way, be sure to check your maps and make the effort to stop. This must be one of the most remote feeling places on earth. Once you arrive make sure you do the light house tour and if...

We stayed in the Troubridge which is a comfortable, well-provisioned cottage. We loved the sense of going back in time without having to compromise on comfort. It's a challenge in these times to amuse ourselves without TV, phones and internet - we had to resort to old-fashioned conversation! Although there were books available I'd suggest bringing one or two along....

These wonderful cottages are a perfect place to stay for historic atmosphere, spectacular scenery and wildlife. Can you imagine being able to visit the Remarkable Rocks and Cape du Coudec at sunrise and sunset before the bus loads of day tourists arrive - pure magic! We saw koalas, a big kangaroo, wallabies, echidna, geese, sea lions and fur seals all...

This is a spacious period cottage with some modern amenities. However, the look and feel of the original cottages has been maintained. We found it ideal. There are some lovely walks around here, including the new walks that are due to open soon.

Our stay at Troubridge Lodge was like stepping back in time, we had a sense of what it would have been like for the early pioneers but with the 'luxury' of power, running water and gas heating. The cottage was a bit noisy when the wind picked up - some banging on the roof and whistling down the chimney but...

Staying at Karatta Lodge was such an authentic experience: snug and warm inside the 100+ year old stone cottage while the wind and rain blew outside, venturing forth when the weather eased to walk around the cliffs, visit the seals and absorb the isolation of the place. This was truly a 'escape from the world' adventure.

The lighthouse keepers cottages at Cape du Couedic are simply fantastic - it's like being in a weird coastal Western, these heavy cottages with 2-foot thick sandstone walls, surrounded by fur seals, wallabies and scrub. Like nothing and nowhere else, and most definitely recommended! Bring warm clothing and plenty of rum ;)

We had such a good time on this trip that it would be great to encourage others to stay. The combination of historic accommodation, wild life, untouched wilderness and scenic beauty makes this a special place. We visited the seals every day and enjoyed glorious sunsets and a full moon rising when everyone else was leaving. We were also very...
