We love staying at Lighthouse keepers accommodation. You are always guaranteed delightful views ... and almost always a degree of isolation. This place has both in spades!! Cape Borda lightstation is on the north western tip of Kangaroo Island, and administered by the state's Parks and Wildlife service. It is a remote location, and visitors are urged to have a...

Cape Borda Lighthouse (managed by DEWNR SA) provides three accommodation options and we recently stayed at Flinders Light Lodge; which is the largest being a fully self-contained three bedroom house. It was built in the 1930s and until the lightstation was automated in the 1980s served as the residence for the lighthouse keeper’s family. The house itself is pretty much...

This is well worth the trip. Mick, the tour guide is a hoot and his presentation is really interesting. I suggest you take the 12.30 tour that includes the cannon firing. A very picturesque location that has played an important part in naval history in this part of the world.

It's a bit of a drive along unsealed roads to get here. At the time we visited (December 16), sections of the road were quite bumpy and in need of maintenance. The lighthouse was closed on Xmas day but we managed to visit the lookouts which is quite spectacular! Beautiful location.

We stayed in Woodward Hut, very affordably priced at $50.00 per night. Basic accommodation in a small room with no running water and the toilet block is 60m away, but comfortable enough to cook a meal and have a warm cosy evening watching the light from the lighthouse turn and looking up at the magnificent array of stars. We loved...

My wife and I stayed one night in the Hartley Hut. We arrived about an hour before sundown, making sure to take it slow on the unsealed road to the lighthouse. On our way there, we saw several kangaroos and even an echidna crossing the road. Upon pulling up to the Hartley Hut, there were several kangaroos grazing in the...

We're so pleased we made the effort to visit Cape Borda Lighthouse. Mick's tour was the best of any of the tours we took during our trip to Kangaroo Island. Mick's tour is entertaining and very informative and he is a national treasure!

Do not recommend anyone to drive to this tourist attraction until this is a sealed road. Absolutely the most terrifying 30km drive I have every done. To use the term "road" would be a mistake - could not even classify this as a track it was just so bad. Grader was on the road on our way to the lighthouse....

My husband & I made the trek out to Cape Borda Lighthouse today & were given the grand tour of the "only real lighthouse " in SA! Mick was a great guide, obviously passionate about what he does, & we thought the tour was fantastic - especially the firing of the cannon! A must see on the island.

We stayed in the tiny Woodwood hut and loved it! No facilities, but that was outweighed by atmosphere! Being right next to THE ONLY LIGHTHOUSE in South Australia and to watch it light up and sit outside with a cool glass and great cheese overlooking the ocean between KI and South America as the sun sets is awesome! The repartee...
