Detailed Reviews
Why travel to remote islands when you can go to Ban Krut. Easy to reach from Bangkok or Hua Hin by bus, train or car. This quiet peacefull little village has a great beach, some small stores ( with ATM) and many cheap seafood restaurants. Only a few tourists on weekdays so you will have the beach pretty much for yourself. During weekend some buses with thai tourists come to visit but they come and they go.
Book a room at Baan Khemika; a beautifull little traditional thai house with only 2 suites which have everything you need. The upstairs suite has a large balcony with an amazing view; definitely worth the extra baht. The owners Ann and Rolf live next door. This nice and friendly couple know what the word 'hospitality' means. They offer you privacy, make you feel at home and help you anyway they can.
My advice: go to Baan Khemika, go now!

My husband and I stayed here while passing through from Bangkok to the islands in the gulf. Ann and Rolf were very accommodating in helping us set up transportation from Ban Krut to Chumphon. They were very hospitable and made our short stay in Ban Krut very easy and enjoyable. They had an extra motor scooter that we were able to rent for the day at a very good price and Rolf offered some suggestions on places nearby that we could visit. The room at Baan Khemika was excellent; very clean and seemed new, and the bed was comfortable. Behind the property is farmland which made for a quiet stay. The beach is just a short walk away and was also very calm and quiet as we were the only people there at the time. We enjoyed exploring this small town and liked that there weren’t many tourists in the area. We wished we had more time in Ban Krut. It was a nice peaceful escape after having been in the busy city.

What a find,we could not believe our good fortune. We booked the upstairs apartment which had a superb view through coconut groves to the sea. There was a large wooden terrace, an outdoor kitchen, an outdoor rain shower and a large bedroom. All fantastic. Rolf and Ann treated us friends rather than just guests.they were full of local knowledge and supplied welcome treats daily. Three nights was just not long enough. Ban Krut is our ideal getaway, very little night life but pleanty of excellent seafood restaurants and long walks along a beautiful deserted beach plus the use of the local pool. WE will be back

Have just spent another marvellous month at Ban Khemika . Lovely modern accommodation, impeccably maintained and a warm welcome from Rolf and Ann. This is the best place to stay in Ban Krut. We’ve already booked for next year.

We spent four nights in the downstairs apartment and were very, very happy. Comfortable and attractive. Rolfe and Anne are excellent hosts. One afternoon they brought us some homemade brownies; another afternoon, a couple of sweet sticky rice treats in bamboo tubes --- both gratis. The apartment is located just a couple of minutes walk from the clean and very quiet beach, and also just a couple of minutes from the pool of Suan Ban Krut Resort, which is available for guests of Baan Khemika. We had breakfast one morning at the resort's restaurant and it was very good, but, mostly, we had breakfast at our apartment with cereal, yogurt, etc. purchased at the local mini-mart. The resort restaurant closes fairly early but it's a quite reasonable walk to the fun Gecko Bar, for sundowners, and on to several restaurants (we'd especially recommend beachside Platoo Restaurant). We loved the downstairs apartment, but did get a look at the upstairs one, too, and if it's within your budget, it's bigger and comes with views. Whichever, you really can't go wrong with this outstanding place at our favorite mainland beach in Thailand.

We stayed in the upstairs suite for five nights in August and had a perfect time. Our driver couldn't find the property once we arrived in Ban Krut so he phoned and immediately Rolf cycled out to find us and lead the way. This is the level of care and hospitality that you can expect throughout your stay. Ann greeted us with cold drinks and fresh fruit, while Rolf showed us round and explained how everything works. The room is lovely, with plenty of storage space, a comfortable bed and floor to ceiling windows all round, which make it light and airy. The bathroom is also lovely, especially the outside shower. Having a kitchen (also outside) is a bonus although I have to admit we were too lazy to use it. We opted to have a delicious breakfast served on the verandah every morning, which also gave us the opportunity to chat with our kind hosts. On our first morning Rolf offered to drive us to the temple on top of the hill and then came back to pick us up-how many 5 star hotels offer that? The view from the verandah across the coconut grove to the sea was breathtaking and every morning we watched the farmer collect the coconuts that had fallen. The walk to the beach is through the resort, where you can also use the lovely pool, and only takes about 5 minutes. During the week we had the entire beach to ourselves. If you are looking for a tranquil, relaxing place to stay, look no further.

What an enjoyable and comfortable place to stay in Ban Krut. Rolf and Anne go out there way to make your stay as you want it.With plenty of information about the area and restaurants and money changing ideas.
We manged to stay in both accommodations of their's and our preference would be for the first floor property purely for the views of the coconut farm next door, and the sea views and its larger in size.
After picking us up at the train station and showing us downtown Ban Krut (which is only a few minutes walk from the rooms and include a tesco lotus express and a 7/11).
Rolf explained the use of the rooms, where everything was how to use things but as they live next door if you forget or want to ask anything they are always at hand. The rooms are very new and the decor has been done to a high standard. The beds are large and comfy, and the rooms have plenty of storage space There's a free room safe, fridge, ceiling fan as well as air con along with a large flat screen tv (which has chromecast) and excellent wi-fi. Outside shower area is great and refreshing.
There is complimentary tea/coffee, toiletries and 4 bottles of water a day. If you like to cook, then there is a small kitchen area just outside the rooms but undercover. Rooms and towels are changed/cleaned whenever you want it, just ask Rolf or Anne.
We would recommend the breakfasts (continental) here which are substantial. Cereals, pastries, cheeses, jams, juices, fresh coffee, yogurts, fresh fruit and eggs cooked to your choice.
There is an on site communal pool with sunbeds a short stroll through the Suan BanKrut beach resort which Baan Khemika is situated on.or the excellent beach at Ban Krut is literally a minutes walk away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend this property and Ban Krut as a holiday destination.

We stayed at Baan Khemika for 3 nights, and really enjoyed the quietness of the place to chill out. Baan Krut is a sleepy little beach town with a few good restaurants and an amazing long beach and the best thing is there are not many travellers here. Booked accommodation over the phone stayed on the ground floor suite and was very impressed it has everything and even better everything works a rarity. This would be the best style of accommodation we have stayed in Thailand love the outdoor shower and kitchen. Hosts Ann and Rolf are very helpful, and thoughtful, will be coming back for a visit.
