Lovely quiet resort right on the beach front. Quaint little rooms which were a reasonable size and included a water boiler and fridge. The bathroom was a good size and included an outdoor shower as well as an indoor one. Beachfront rooms are a lot more luxurious but also more costly. There were quite a few mosquitos and because the bathroom windows did not shut properly we could not keep them out. The pool was a good size with some sun and shaded loungers which were a pleasant break. The beach was fabulous unspoiled and very quiet. But beware of the tides as the waves were very strong when we visited and the beach dropped off quickly. Delicious food was available n the restaurant. There is an excellent temple a short distance away which is a must see for its unusual stained glass windows but not a lot else to do in the local area so if you don't want to sit on the beach or by the pool then you are very limited. We stayed two nights and that was great - could probably have done three but then would need to move on.. Best of all were the helpful staff who did everything to make our stay the best it could be. Our son had recently married in Thailand registry office and we wanted to hold a celebration dinner. The young lady in the restaurant was excellent and with only a day’s notice decorated the area and table with fresh flowers and arranged a cake. She even swept the beach so we could take photos! Some areas of the resort are a little shabby and could do with updated.

Baan Montra is not your usual Thai hotel, salas and pagodas have been replaced with Moroccan skylights and "stuccatoed" villas and lodges. The appeal of the distinct lack of Thai style was a welcome break as an expat here. The lack of Thainess stops however at the accommodation. The lodges are set along a beautiful winding path, separated amongst beautifully kept flora and fauna, leading down to an inhabited beach, past beachside dining tables. On offer at the restaurant is a reasonably priced Thai menu which is cooked beautifully to rival any brillinat local Bangkok restaurant. The location is amazingly remote from tourists/ beach sellers etc and the view from the beach is outstanding with a temple on a near hillside. One negative would be that the rooms although kept wonderfully clean,do show some signs of mould in places and a positive of the resorts remote idyllicness is that a slight negative outcome is that the restaurant and bar are not in service after 9pm. However, the lagoon pool with a mock waterfall fueled by the jacuzzi sitting at the top is lovely to swim and relax by all day or as dusk falls which usually means a relaxed sleepy feeling shortly after the bar has closed anyway!
If you are looking for the last of Thailands remote unspoilt beaches and locations, Prachuap Kiri Khan is definitely the place to head ( take plenty of reading!). There is some amazing sights to see whilst leisurely cycling around the quickly changing landscapes- seaside to countryside ( complete with paddy fields, buffalo and cows)within 3 km cycle of each other! Only 4/5 hrs drive away from Bangkok, it's a well kept secret- shh!

We booked this accidentally and are very glad that we did. It's a little far from the " night life " of Ban Krut... which closes at 9pm!... and a little rough around the edges but for those two minor criticisms it suited our needs very well. The staff are lovely and couldn't be more helpful if they possibly tried and for those reviews that complained they didn't speak English YOU'RE IN THAILAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😠DID YOU SPEAK THAI?
that said, we got by with the little English that was spoken. Room was very comfortable with a large bed and changing area and a day bed looking out to the ocean. Bathroom was huge with a bath that was more style over substance but huge and an "outdoor" rain forest shower within the bathroom.... just lovely.
We only had breakfast here which was a shame as breakfast was nice and the evening menu looked lovely but we were with friends who were staying in "pontins looking" hotel in town where there was more choice of restaurants.
If we were here for our "normal" 2 week sit and stay vacation I would be immensely happy and would definitely recommend it.
Really couldn't fault the resort except just a little tired looking which is why the 4/5.

Used booking.com to make the reservation. Location shown on booking.com is adjacent to Ban Krut Resort, on the main beachfront street. In reality, Bannmontrabeach Resort is 2 miles north of the main beachfront street. Be careful if you want to stay in town.

Dear all, I just spent 3 nights in this hotel. The swimming pool is definitely great and room quiet good but expensive. The breakfast is more then bad, with bad smell. The staff doesn't care anything when we are Farang. Please come here with Thai people. At the end, they don't look at you, they don't thank you for the 10.000 you gave them for 3 nights. Just no have any respect of the foreigners. But it's OK, the snakes are very friendly there.....

I spent 4 nights at Baan Montra. Each night and day was as pleasant as I expected. The staff are wonderful. The manager is absolutely charming. The amenities are all one could ask for. The food was great. I will certainly come back.

Unfortunately, poor English, small rooms, smelly restaurant deck, and broken glass on the beach - not the best holiday for our family. Need to be careful. Younger staff are friendly. Manager got confused and made mistakes. He didn't understand English - a Thai Basil Fawlty.

Beautiful garden paths to the private beach. I was the only sole on the beach. Nice restaurant with great crab cakes and friendly staff. Pics maybe a little outdated. I was here in low season. Great time for honeymoon location!!! More family's during Thai holiday seasons.

I have been to this hotel for 2-3 times (2009, 2010 and 2011) and the place is always good. The swimming pool is pretty small but within a few steps, it is a very nice beach. I stayed with my family at the Family Poolside room, it is a connecting room right next to the pool. The room is clean and food is great. The resort is located pretty far from city area, so might be a little bit hard for those who didn't drive. I am not so sure about the staffs' english skills as am a Thai.
