Detailed Reviews

We stopped here for fuel and a quick feed en route to the Tip. It was a relief to get off the Development Rd for a bit of a break. So, we did not stay at their motel. The place really does have a true Outback feel, which we liked. Meals basic and a bit expensive but this is a remote location, so it's what you come to expect. We stuck with burgers and they were just fine. Coffee was $7 - we didn't quite have the confidence to try their cappuccinos at that price.

This historic site offered a nice night’s accommodation in a basic but clean and good sized room a short walk to the dining area. Our room was clean and comfortable with a good bathroom and a comfortable bed ensuring a fine sleep. The old telegraph station still has a presence with some historic photos and remnants of the original line. Meals are offered in the bar area and of good outback quality. There is a dam out the rear of the property where at 5pm a few crocodiles are fed, a fun attraction. The staff were very helpful and friendly - a nice stay overnight as your make your way north up to the Tip of Cape York.

Overnight accommodation stay and room was small but clean. Bathroom/Toilet was very cosy, but overall it was a comfortable night with TV, Air Conditioning and Fridge. Some TLC required with peeling paint etc. Good hearty meals and drinks are reasonably priced allowing for the location. Staff very friendly and helpful.

We spent over $1200 on food, fuel, grog between 6 of us. We ordered dinner and 6 beers to go with it, one each. The staff member only charged us the 6 pack price, and the owner yelled at us saying we can’t drink them at the table because we paid the take away price. We had no idea what the price was, and all we did was order 6 beers with our meals. We then offered to pay the extra for single beer price, totalling $12. No apology or acknowledgment from the greedy old bloke.
Drive past if you can, there are plenty of people on The Cape who deserve your $$ more.

I stayed at Musgrave twice. Once on the way up to the cape, and once back again. The atmosphere is relaxed and all the amenities you need are there. There are hotel type rooms, cabin type rooms and camping.
Food was well prepared and the service was lovely. I recommend bringing cash with you, to use in an emergency, as I was only using EFTPOS, and on this particular day, the lines were down and cash was the only option to pay for accommodation and food.

Camped on the way to the Cape. Great location.
The Roadhouse is all to everyone ... simple clean no power camping worth clean amenities, cafe/restaurant where the family loved burgers and chips (huge serve!) for dinner and welcome cold beers after a long day on the road.
I fitted in a 5km run up and down the air strip!

This place is the biggest stop between Iron Range and Cairns. They have built a new set of rooms and that was a great idea. The rooms are now spacious with huge bathrooms, all very comfortable and clean - no more communal dirty bathrooms.
The rest of the roadhouse hasn't changed one bit in 6 years : burger dinners and expensive beer.

A mid way stop on the Cape backed by an excellent friendly team. The place has always been good but a refresh has the place looking smick. Strongly recommend as a place to stretch the legs have a feed or bed down for the night as you explore this amazing part of Australia.

Third time in three years to stay here and more than happy to do so. The room was still very good, and still small, but suitable and there are not many other choices anyway.
The meal was also excellent and huge and the prices are what you would expect in such a remote location. Will stay here again if it suits the itinerary.

First ever bad review from me. As a small business I try to accept a bad day as a one off but the service, attitude, prices and experience of the current couple was absolutely abysmal. Never again. Hard to avoid this stop for any travelers and they know it.

Hi, is it possible to drive to this roadhouse in January during the rainy season from Cairns, what are the roads like or is this impossible in a vehicle? Thanks.
