Not much doing in the town but full of history and very beautiful. Good amenities and host service. Breakfast included was a sufficient start to the day, and enjoyed sitting on the verandah feeling the wind off the water. Noise carries at night, all the guest rooms are very close to each other. Overall, great place to stay for a great Aussie experience.

The Cossack accommodation is a fantastic stop. Rooms are large, lovely and clean. Dot the host goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you need for your stay. The continental breakfast is a great touch. This was my second stay and I don't think it will be our last.

We loved Cossack! The accommodation is comfortable, clean albeit unflashy. The stone architecture of the town is stunning. The cafe food was also delicious. The staff at the accomodation, cafe and museum are great too. We especially loved it once the caravans and tourists left for the day and we had the beautiful sunset and views of the mangroves to ourselves. Just cover up for sandflies when the winds are still. I won’t wait 25years between visits next time!

As a local living in Karratha, we went out with friends to stay the night in Cossack. I have to say the more time you spend there the more awesome it is! A beautiful historical town with beautiful people working, showcasing and caring for it. Thank you Ron & Dot and the rest of the crew. Your hospitality is the best. Your knowledge and love for Cossack is amazing - the historical walking tour is highly recommended. The accommodation in the old police barracks was lovely, comfortable and to the highest standard possible. Rooms were quaint, cool - no air con needed, and quiet. Everything you could possibly need in the shared kitchen and bathrooms. Plenty of space and kept immaculately clean. Outdoor courtyard and bbq was fabulous to sit around in the evening taking in the ambience, stunning scenery and picturing the history there. Full moon made it all the more special and to share with “special” friends for a birthday occasion was fun.

Comfort and amenities were outstanding. We stayed in the old police station in this historic village. Very charming. A generous continental breakfast provided us with a hearty start to the day. Bathrooms, kitchen and bedroom were spotlessly clean with all modern amenities. Dot and Ronnie are superb managers who made us feel welcome despite their huge jobs of managing the precinct over the busy time of the Cossack Art Awards. The facilities within the village extremely well maintained by the caretaker and a big plus is the cafe with a delicious menu.

Stayed for 2 nights in the school holidays and could not there were still rooms available! I was a little concerned at having to share a bathroom but should have not worried at all. There are 2 roomy bathrooms that we shared with 3 others. There is also a laundry with a washing machine to use. Everything is kept immaculately clean. The hosts, Dot and Ron, are extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel very well looked after. The price includes breakfast and lots of other thoughtful extras including coffee pots, tissues, hand towels, nice linen on the beds, hand sanitiser, insect repellent. The kitchen is really well set up with anything you may need. There is a BBQ and areas to sit outside. There is also a dining table, comfy couch and TV in the shared guests area. We wandered down to the pier each evening to watch the sunset but also got to see turtles feeding, which was amazing. The historic buildings were really interesting to view. The cafe serves great burgers and red velvet cake. Settlers Beach, a short drive away is great place to swim on high tide. The various lookouts have great views. A supermarket is located at Wickham which is only a short drive away. The art galleries in Roebourne are also not far away. If you cannot get into a caravan park or the camp sites, consider a stay at this historic accommodation. I hope I will be back sometime soon.

There is no doubt that this is the best place to stay in town - it is the ONLY place to stay! Cossack has a population of two so when we visited there were four people in town that night and it was quiet, incredibly beautiful and just a little bit spooky! This historic town really has the feeling of being on the very edge of the never, never. The landscape is wild and impressive and the town has a fascinating history. The accommodation, in the Old Police Quarters, was immaculately clean and very comfortable with 5 x guest rooms sharing two bathrooms, a kitchen, a BBQ area, lounge, laundry and a wide verandah. The kitchen is very well equipped and the quality of the bed linen was good. The only 2 residents of Cossack are the care-taker and his lovely girlfriend - they are a delight and know so much about the town, their passion for this remote spot really comes through in everything they do and in all their conversations. We had breakfast at the local cafe - they are open for a very good breakfast, brunch and lunch and it is the perfect spot for those that don't stay in Cossack but instead visit on a day trip from Karratha. You can eat on the verandah or in the garden. We explored the region and poked about the old buildings - the gaol cells are particularly creepy, I could not bring myself to go inside them. The schoolhouse is reported to have some ghostly residents but we didn't meet them. The architecturally beautiful courthouse is now a museum and the tank stand on the hill is the perfect place for a sundowner drink - BYO. Staying in Cossack was an experience that I will remember forever, it is such a special and truly unique place.
