We stopped at Yukon River Camp on our way back to Fairbanks. It was such a surprise to find a little stop by the rough Dalton with fuel, shop, restaurant and most importantly: lodge! The lodge was clean and tidy. Showers were very limited: You need to share 2 showers with another 20-ish rooms. The room was very VERY expensive,...

I was surprised to see this little camp with restaurant, gas, and gift shop. We picked up our bagged lunch we ordered earlier. They do offer a choose of bread, meat or egg salad or peanut butter, fruit (orange or apple), drink and chips. In addition we all got a bag of cookies. My lunch was really good. The river...

We decided to drive up the Dalton Highway to the Yukon River. We had both read and been told there were no services until Dead Horse. Surprise! When we crossed the Yukon River heading north there was a service stop. To the right was the Visitor Center and Rest Area. To the left was the Yukon River Camp. We stopped...

The Yukon has a great system of campgrounds. This one rests on the banks of the Yukon River. It is just minutes away from the ferry to town and well worth the $12 to stay the night. Be advised that this is not a hotel, it is s campground.
