You get more than what you pay for at this little b & b. Le Simon is a comfortable, friendly, clean and basic accommodation. The owner and workers were all friendly and helpful. Rooms and bathrooms were cleaned everyday. You can enjoy your breakfast out on the patio or in the kitchen. Toasts (sometimes pancakes/crepes), yogurt, juice (there was even...

There is nothing special about this B&B. Very basic. The neighborhood is not attractive and is a bit sketchy. However, it is close to a large subway station. The B&B is very basic, the room we had isn't bad in terms of overall appeal. It has an exposed brick wall that is attractive and IKEA furniture. Room was generally attractive....

We really liked staying at Le Simone - staff were wonderful, cheery, gave us a great overview and map of the city when we first arrived. We didn't have much of an agenda so we used those recommendations for our four days in Montreal. Our room was small but clean, and the air conditioner was much appreciated in the 40+...

Positive: The location is great! Its in walking distance to everything. Had to take the subway just once when we went to the Biodome. The owner and his staff are wonderful people, very friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast they served was simple (yogurt, OJ, croissants, toasts, yogurt, jam, cream cheese) but enough to fill you up. They also cooked...

Positives: Le Simone's location is fantastic as it is in walking distance to all attractions within beautiful downtown. The staff was very helpful and attentive. Just came back from a one-night stay at Le Simone and we were very satisfied! We were a group of 8 ladies in town for a bachelorette and the "apartment" at Le Simone was perfect for us. There was room for everyone to sleep and a big kitchen to prepare food in. Amazing location - steps from the Metro and...

Stayed at Le Simone B&B in Montreal with my husband from 15-18 June 2008. Very friendly owners checked us in and provided lots of information. Great location - 2 minute walk to the Metro station Berri UQAM, the underground train that gets you around the city in no time. Located very close to restaurants and parks. The gay area is...

Stayed at Le Simone for the Memorial weekend. My friends stayed at Le Chasseur (the 2 B&Bs are physically connected). There was a computer available for free internet access. There was only one time where I had to wait to use the computer. Breakfast was simple and included toast, croissants, variety of jams, peanut butter, butter, scrambled eggs, coffee, and...

Let me start by saying, Roc, was a very nice innkeeper. I did not like the Inn. The stairs were too steep and narrow, the breakfast was bread and juice, and the inn was "under construction". You have to unlock your door everytime you use the bathroom or go to your room. The nicest part was the small flat screen...

Le Simone occupies the upper floors of two very tall narrow buildings a stone's throw from the Berri Metro station. The rooms aren't quite as pretty as the photos on their web site, but friendly staff, comfort, convenience and the quirky charm of the building itself more than made up for any shortcomings. We loved the creaky woody floors and...

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
