Well done, Le Gîte! For what more could I have asked? Located on Sherbrooke on the Plateau, Le Gîte is a quick walk from bars, restaurants, and pharmacy. The central seating area on the first floor is bright and cozy and quiet for the most part. Breakfast is served daily. My travel companions and I stayed at Le Gîte Du...

We picked this hostel because of its price and location but everything else was great too! We loved the Victorian flair, breakfast and common areas full of other travelers. And such friendly staff! We love Montreal and we can't wait to stay here again (on a warmer weekend)!

We really enjoyed staying at the hostel with a group. The rooms and the washrooms were very clean, the breakfast was decent and the service excellent! Can definitely recommend this for group stays or solo travelers wanting to explore Montréal! :)

Cannot recommend this hostel enough. So much character and warmth. Character does also imply old, so don't expect shiny new facilities. In saying this it's well kept and very clean. I traveled at a low peak time so it was quiet and relaxing. Staff are so helpful. The activities are great - I joined Maxim cooking her weekly Sunday dinner...

Worth the trip to see the entire city. We took the bus up and hiked down. You can sit on the plaza and enjoy the views as long as you want. There are gift shops, bathrooms, etc at the top it's all maintained very well.

I have stayed here many times over the years, alone and with friends. Le Gite is a perfect home base to explore Montreal. Walking distance to pretty much anything. Nice big communal kitchen and clean rooms. A bit bare bones but very comfortable for a budget Hotel/Hostel. I would highly recommend, hard to beat for the price.

I stayed at le gite twice on my two week journey through French Canada. There were enough showers and toilets on the floor, the rooms were all tidy and clean and there is a really nice rooftop. I only had breakfast once, as I like to sleep in, but it was delicous and already included in the price. The location...

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
