One of the best hostels I have stayed at. The place was easy to find from the yellow spiral staircase. The guy that runs it, Boris is his name is a really good bloke, was made very welcome from him when we arrived and all the other travellers staying there. Great bunch of people, who respected everyones privacy. Breakfast was...

I was unsure about this hostel as I couldn't find a lot online about it in the past year or so, I attended Osheaga and met many other people who were going also. The owners are a young couple with a daughter (probably about 1) and live upstairs. They are so so pleasant and accommodating. They do however have a...

This adorable B&B-style hostel is wonderful. It's eco-friendly using natural lighting from giant skylights. It's family-friendly. It's convenient location in the heart of old Montreal makes it easily accessible by public transportation, bike, or even walking . . . I walked everywhere. It's 20 minutes to the bus or train station. You'll enjoy a traditional French breakfast every morning, but,...

Welcoming and smiling staff. Excellent breakfast with french bread, jam, cereals, fruit juice etc. Excellent location, everything walkable closeby. It's great for a short stay (max 2 nights) because the rooms are very poor but you got what you pay for and the rates are very cheap so it's ok.

This was my first hostel experience, and I joined tripadvisor just to give it a good review. It was a great value for the price. It was comfortable, clean, friendly, easy. I was expecting dorm style beds, but it was more like a loft apartment with beds everywhere. Maybe that sounds funny, but it was honestly a great, relaxed atmosphere....

This place has a really sweet feel to it. We stayed in a private room which was of adequate size, nice and simple. The only bad thing was the pillows which were waif thin... time for some new ones perhaps? Fold them over and you're good. Everything was neat and clean, and the people we met there were lovely. The...

The thing I love about this hostel is the athmosphere. It's open, happy and Hippie! Where ever you sleep in the Hostel, it's the same price. You can crash anywhere you want to. The other two couple on our floor were very quiet and calm. The bed were clean and breakfast was provided. Love it !

We stayed for 4 nights. We were shocked at the start. Its more of an open plan hostel. Lots of beds, everywhere. We had a private room but in order to use the bathroom and shower we had to walk through the living room, which is not a problem but the living room was being used as a dorm. One...

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.

“I stayed on the 2nd floor, which was perfect. However, it's stair access-only, so if you don't like stairs, ask for the first floor. You'll love it either way. It's a very fun and friendly place.”
