We stayed here after finishing an east coast cruise from New York. It is within walking distance from the ship terminal, even with our large cases. Everyone else was waiting for cabs, and after we were told that the hotel wasn't that far away, we set off. We had a bit of street noise in our room, but that was...

We have stayed at the Nelligan in the past and for this special anniversary, we specifically made our reservations here. We stayed in a Junior Suite with lots of room and a fireplace. The weekend turned out to be very cold and we used the fireplace all weekend. The king bed was super comfortable with lots of pillows. The bathroom...

Had a lovely stay at the Nelligan:great service, beautiful room, good restaurant downstairs, great decor, well located in Vieux Montreal. We would stay there again anytime. You don't need a car here as everything is in walking distance and parking is expensive.

great Location, we had a Junior Suite on the 2nd. floor. Nice Room generous in size, staff was friendly and very helpful, this is really a wonderful Boutique Hotel. My only negative comment is the Breakfast Buffet is simply not up to the Hotel standard, there are plenty of Coffee Houses in the area, but yes we would stay there...

Hotel Nelligan lived up to their reputation as an exceptional boutique hotel in Old Montreal. The staff is courteous and attentive to detail which really transcends the atmosphere during your stay. The rooms are warm with a tasteful decor. Much of the same can be said for the vaulted atrium, lobby and dining areas as well. If you don't like...

Enjoyed our two nights at this hotel. Great location. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Needed to track down the staff and get clean towel...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
