We loved this hotel because of its location and the amazing artwork within. I am a huge modern art fan and this was my draw to the hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant for breakfast was good as well as the wait staff. The room was clean and spacious and we had a wonderful view out...

Really lovely hotel located in Old Montreal. Charming, beautiful art, small, intimate - a great option for those who don't like McHotels. When I checked in, I indicated that my office has moved, so I was trying out Old Montreal hotels because I'm there once per month. A few comments: 1) Little or no welcome...very routine, no smile or offer...

In choosing this hotel, we were influenced by the positive reviews, the chance to see significant modern art all through the hotel, and the generous size of the rooms. When we booked, we were offered a discounted rate, which was really wonderful. There were not many people visiting the hotel during the wintry days of end January. Many reviewers have...

Everything was great with this hotel until we got to our room. It was on the ground floor, uhoh, we had a view of a dark parking, another uhoh, the bed was tiny, uncomfortable, and the worse looking one i have ever seen in an hotel. Oh wait, the room had high ceilings, great, right? Wrong, since it was small,...

We had a great time at the hotel. We stayed at premier room and it was big and very tastefully decorated. Fridge and a coffee machine were quite helpful as we are late people and were always late for breakfast. There is a whirlpool in the bathroom; since it has not been mentioned in the room description it was a...

LHotel offered us a perfect stay in Montreal. It is centrally located, making it easy to get to Old Port, St. Catherine's Street, or wherever else you may be headed in the city. The staff is extraordinarily friendly, warm, and helpful and the accommodations are phenomenal. The lobby is filled with quirky, hip artwork and our room was classy and...

This was the 3rd year as guest of LHotel and the experience was as pleasant as the first time. The hotel personnel, from reception and bell staff to housekeeping and breakfast room, was friendly, helpful, welcoming. The room was nothing short of extraordinary: who wouldn't like to wake up to original art by the likes of Motherwell or Ed Ruscha?!...

It is true what everyone is saying - very unique and original - art everywhere, a very interesting lobby - and in an excellent location in Old Montreal. This hotel was a real splurge for us and we were happy that we did. We had a king suite corner room with fireplace - excellent for the minus 30 degrees temperature...

I stayed here in Jan 2014 with friends and we booked the hotel based on the reasonable room rate and the reviews on tripadvisor. The hotel is very cool with lots of great modern art (incl Andy Warhol and David Hockney). Staff are very friendly and the location is great... Victoria Square Metro round the corner and right in the...

We agree with many of the other reviewers here - the great location, the brilliant pop art collection everywhere, the friendly staff, the nice rooms. But when you walk down the hall and your neighbor is blaring the TV and all you want to do is get some shut-eye, you'll be even happier for the quality noted in this review's...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
