Great place, very affordable, very clean, very helpful staff. It is true there is no air conditioning, and depending on the weather outside it can be nice or sweltering. The windows open wide so you can cool off at night. I took a late shower to help stay cool. The staff was very helpful. There is an elevator inside but...

I lived here from September 2016-May 2017 and this is the worst experience of my life. You get woken up at 8am by the cleaners and they yell so loud every morning. The residence managers are very rude and their main goal is to get as much money out of you as possible. They fined me $50 because my door...

Was staying here for Montreal Pride, the location is right beside the Parade Route. Decent bed, poorly designed shower (it sprays directly on the floor) but overall great for the price. Not mentioned is the 10/Day charge for parking, but all in all still cheaper than most available downtown accommodations.

If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay in the heart of Montreal there isn't a better option. The rooms are dorm style with a shared bathroom. There is a living area with cable and laundry facilities. If you're looking for something fancy with lots of eminentlys this isn't the place for you. It's the most basic it...

The nunnery is in the Old Montreal section of the city. There are several sidewalk markers and descriptions of the history and the building is magnificent. It was not open when we came by but even a visit to the grounds and the historical markers is worthwhile!

Plastic-lined, old hospital beds kept us sweaty and uncomfortable all night-we woke up sore each day. Someone went through our things in our room. Co-ed bathrooms with shower doors that didn't lock.Creepy history we didn't know about until we left. Google it and look up the hauntings. Ya.

Stayed for two nights here, right in the middle of town so close to the action. Good for looking around, bad for noise. Even a non-road facing room was subject to loud noise. Beware that there is no air-con and the bed might be very very firm. Minimalist room advertised with amenities but in fact had almost none - no...

Stayed here for the last four days for the Just for Laughs festival. Check in was very smooth. The room was facing the chapel, that was nice. Nice sized room, windows open for fresh air, as there is no air conditioning. On the second day I did ask about a fan but they had run out so you may want...

Tired of paying summer hotel rates in popular summer cities when all you want is a place to sleep? Grey Nuns Residence hit the spot. A spartan (in the good sense) clean spacious room with comfortable beds, sink, refrig, shining wood floors, desk, lamp, chairs, closets. Bathrooms/showers down the hall were very clean and the hot water was hot. Some...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
