This hotel is located in the heart of Old Montreal. Not only is it extremely convenient to many of the tourist attractions in Montreal, but it is a very comfortable place to stay. The breakfast served each morning was very good, and the overall service at this property was excellent. We left on a cruise after staying there for 3...

1 block to St. Paul st. restaurants, shops and art galleries. 3 blocks to Notre-Dame Basilica and 5 blocks to closest subway stop. Staff speaks English and are very helpful in recommending restaurants. I had a queen bed with sofa seating area. Spacious and clean. Very good buffet breakfast. Area feels very safe.

Stayed here in September for a couple of nights and really enjoyed the hotel. Breakfast buffet was excellent with plenty to choose from but can get busy. The hotel is in a quieter street but a minute walk and you are in amongst the bars and restaurants of the old town. Our flight was not until the evening and the...

Great location. Within a 5 to 10 minute walk to a wide variety of restaurants and bars all with the flavor of Old Montreal. Front desk staff at the hotel was outstanding - friendly, helpful, and polite. Don't be afraid asking about restaurants or bars - the front desk staff knows the area well and will give you good recommendations....

Looking for a hotel in Montreal? Look no further. The location is perfect, the rooms are spacious and the staff are friendly and helpful. To top it off, the price is reasonable and it even includes free breakfast! Of course it would be a sin not to try the many delicious cafes around, but you can't go wrong with free...

We stayed here at the beginning of October. It is situated in a great neighborhood, and the staff are all very nice. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant, but as a loyal Marriott traveler I would describe this Springhill Suites as extremely clean, very up-to-date and a hotel I would visit again.

This is a great place to stay for tourists visiting Montreal. The city's historic sites, such as the Notre-Dame Basilica, are within easy walking distance, as are innumerable wonderful restaurants. The hotel is modern and comfortable and the beds were great and allowed for a good night's sleep. The hotel also serves a delicious complimentary hot breakfast and has a...

We were fortunate to find this comfortable hotel for a short stay at the end of a cruise. We appreciated the space in the suite after 15 days in a small cabin and really enjoyed the usual comfortable Marriott bed and the excellent breakfast included in their reasonable rate. It was easy to get to from the ship and an...

I'm a US citizen who travels regularly to Montreal. I love Montreal, because as has been said by many before, it's Old World charm that's still in the New World. I've found the hotels are sometimes a little more like the Old World, but that's not true with the SpringHill Suites. First, the room: the room was spacious and comfortable,...

This hotel was located on a little street parallel to St. Laurent, a main street through Montreal. We found it very easy to walk to most locations in the Old City area. We used buses and metro to reach sights further away, like Mont Real Park and the Olympic Park. Our room was clean, spacious, and well-decorated. The staff was...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
