I have stayed here many times, Spring, summer and winter... each stay is a delight and being very close to the "action" of downtown Montreal it is perfectly located. I love the decor... old style Quebecoise(?) and each room has an indiviual and totally different style. I have tried to emulate this feel at home but failed dismally! The whole...

I LOVE B&Bs that don't feel like B&Bs. The traditional B&Bs are run out of someone's house - meaning shared bathroom and awkwardness in mingling with people you have no desire to be BFFs with. Auberge Les Bons Matins feels more like a hip hotel than a B&B. We fell in love with it immediately. First off, the fellow at...

We stayed at Bon Matins for 2 nights at the start of May. This was our first time in Montreal. The location of this B&B was excellent. It was close to downtown Montreal and better yet, within crawling distance of half a dozen pubs. The entrance to the Metro was a half block away, so it made access to Old...

Montreal is a big city. Worse, they are going through their own Big Dig experience, half the streets are dug up the traffic is jammed on a grand scale. So, moving around city center isn't fun. and a central location is a must. Only problem is - hotels at the center are either atrociously expensive or cheap and shabby. Enter...

We recently stayed at le Bons Matins, a place we had also stayed with great delight 7 years ago. Unfortunately, this time we had a VERY noisy neighbor who played his TV until 2 a.m. and began again at 6 a.m. The TV could have been in our own room, it was that loud. The walls must be quite thin,...

During the last dozen years, my wife and I have stayed at les Bons Matins about 6 times. We have watched it grow in size and (well deserved) success. I have been meaning to write a review for quite a while. As an overall comment, at this unique boutique hotel, everything – service, comfort, ambience, wonderful breakfasts and location –...

we stayed one night here based on the price and proximity to our daughters dorm. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the rooms, the quaint and comfortable ambiance. We were initially offput by the surrounding neighborhood which isn't particularly inviting for walking alone at night, but it is so close to downtown, and the metro, and after half...

We spent the past 5 days at this B&B in Montreal, one of our favorite spots for a short get away vacation in winter or summer. This is so much more then a B&B to us. The lovely rooms include a colourful French Canadian decor in connecting old town houses in an excellent down town location ... some with working...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
