The hostel is located near downtown and subway station, amazing location right in the centre of Montreal. Great staff, great rooms. Bed was comfortable and I met friendly roommates. I'll be staying here for future trips to Montreal.

I stayed at HI Montreal for two night in 10 people room. Locations was good. This hostel is located near downtown and subway station, so I could go to dinner easily and buy souvenirs. The staff were very kind and friendly. When I checked in, they told me the around the hostel and gave me a map. When I asked...

The HI hostel in Montreal was a great stay for 3 nights. Good free breakfast and bar has great drinks and alternative breakfast (eggs and toast) options were delicious and cheap. The 6 bed room was spacious enough and bed was comfortable. Nearby Rue Sainte Catherine and Bixi bike station and metro stops to Le Plateau and the rest of...

This hostel is great. I like the staff and how they help us in finding things to do in this city! All my friends had a great time here. It's so convenient to have this hostel very close to downtown. I would recommend this place to anyone that want to hang out with foreigners and locals alike.

As with every other HI Hostel I've stayed in I really can't fault them. The staff are always willing to help in whatever way they can and the rooms and services available are great for hostels (and the price you pay). The hostel is in a very central location and 2 minute walk away to the orange metro line (the...

Having never stayed in a hostel before and only going by what my parents said hostels used to be like, i was expectin something much worse than HI Montreal. I've stayed at many hostels, but this is by far the best. The people are incredibly friendly, the rooms are clean and not cramped, and the bathrooms are very sanitary. I was glad to have an opportunity to stay here when visiting such a great city.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
