i booked castel saint denis because of its good reviews and its location: it was at the heart of montreal's just for laughs festival, it was close to the metro, and it was on rue saint-denis (a street known for its strip of good restos, bars & pubs). the place served its purpose for the budget savvy- a clean and...

I found the hotel on Tripadvisor and booked after reading the reviews and checking the price. The Staff is very friendly. The front desk area is clean as are the rooms. The shower was terribly small and apparently all the rooms have similar sized showers. While breakfast is said to be included, it really is just OJ/Tea/Coffee and a croissant....

I didn't imagine myself writing this review after returning from Montreal, but just becuase tripadvisor.com was the reason why I chosed this hotel, I am glad I did and I thought I should confirm that this hotel is indeed a great choice for everyone who wants a good and pleasant stay in Montreal downtown. We stayed 3 days there for...

I was wondering why there hasn't been a review since 2006, but that didn't stop me from booking my stay! Castel Saint Denis is great for the budget traveler with simple, basic needs. We paid $80/nite for the 3 of us. We booked a 2 doublebeds room - the biggest room they have. The room was clean with comfortable beds....

My sister and I stayed at the Castel St. Denis, and had a wonderful experience. As other people have mentioned, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is great, and the hotel is very clean. It was also very quiet, which was a nice surprise. I would definitely return, but next time would bring a travel clock as...

This very basic hotel was in a wonderful location. Within walking distance of EVERYTHING (if you don't mind walking a bit, which we didn't). The rooms are definitely tight quarters but the price was unbeatable and the rooms were very clean. We did not get the excellent front desk service we had heard so much about. Seems the staff was...

The hotel is quite basic but nice and very clean. AC is central, but it seemed to be adjustable, however I didn't try too adjust it too much. One point which I didn't like is the shower. The water temperature didn't seem to be stabile and it was a bit difficult to find the optimal position. The location of the...

My wife and I just spent a long weekend in Montreal and absolutley loved everything about our stay. We researched a lot of budget hotels and chose this one based on all the good reviews. Most everything we read rang true. Anne Marie was a charming host. All the staff was friendly the location was safe and fun with restaurants...

This was my 2nd stay at the Castel St-Denis. I stayed there in October 2004 for 7 nights. No doubt: The hotel is in a great location, right in the center of the Latin Quarter, close to the Plateau, the Village,... close to everything and very charming. The rates are very low: about CAD 60 + tax per night for...

This hotel is perfect for the budget concious traveller that is willing to sacrifice amenities for a cheap rate. A clean bed, private bathroom and TV are provided. There is no phone in the room. There is a shower stall but no tub. Staff are friendly and helpful. The location is great, being on one of the major "strips" of...

Staying in Olympic Park & Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa)

Neighbourhood Profile
Olympic Park & Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa)
Named for the Olympic Stadium complexes built for the 1976 games, the Olympic Park and the surrounding neighbourhood of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa) make up an invigorated area dedicated to "Space for Life." Around the Olympic Village's arenas and stadiums, Rue Sherbrooke welcomes exploration of its sculpture gardens decorated in the works of Jean-Paul Riopelle and its museum culture headed by the historical Château Dufresne. Maisonneuve Park offers interactive experiences at its bio-dome, insectarium, planetarium, and botanical gardens. For a change of scene, the gentrified space along Rue Ontario Est is packed with the city's newest, edgiest cafes, where an imaginative, youthful crowd sips foamy cappuccinos. A visit here is incomplete without stepping into the vast halls of the Maisonneuve Market, with flower stalls, wine depots, and local produce.
