Stayed here with family in a large 2 bedded room. Location is perfect if you want to stay near chinatown and the old part of the city. Handy enough to walk to the shoping area as well. Lovely Chinese themed reception area. Hotel was very clean. Good wifi, computer and TV facilities. Also has parking under the hotel which is...

Stayed here with 2 others and we were happy. Great location and friendly staff. Nice rooms and a pool. The bartender in the lounge was great to talk to. Parking was available but for a charge. Would stay here again.

From the exterior, one would never guess that this hotel is so modern, beautiful, and comfortable. Because I could not find rooms in my usual hotel I tried this one. Firstly, the price was incredible. For a busy Montreal weekend I managed to get a very good rate. Of course, this made me skeptical. Upon arriving, however, we were pleasantly...

This Holiday Inn is situated perfectly between Old Montreal and Downtown, including great proximity to the Metro. Our beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was large. Also, it seemed like everything had been recently updated. From the outside, though, this hotel does not look promising. As the price is so reasonable, consider its exterior a blessing. The Chinatown neighborhood does...

Dear Amy B, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay! Although Montreal is a very safe city, the presence of police cruisers in Old Montreal and Downtown areas is always big. I am truly sorry if this made you feel unsafe about the area. Hoping to welcome...

The outside is no indication of the inside. The rooms were spacious & clean. The location was excellent being just right round the corner from Chinatown as well as the shopping on St Catherine. Breakfast had a Chinese spin to it with the rice congee & fried noodles. Service was great & the price was very reasonable. Pool was a...

Easily accessed from freeway and located near Chinatown, Basilica Notre' Dame, Old Town Montreal, and old port--very short walk. Secure on-site parking. The rooms appear to have been recently renovated, in excellent condition, and very clean. Extremely friendly staff at the on-site resturant and bar. Did not use the swimming pool but that is a bonus if you are traveling...

We stayed in this hotel 4 nights. A family with 3 daughters. It was not our 1st selection but had no choice due to all other hotels are fully booked. Our first impression as we looked at the hotel from the ourside, was not good at all. However, from practical point, this hotel have good large and clear rooms. Services...

Love this spacious 2 queen room with skyline view. Love the spacious washroom with marble counter. The hotel is very clean and short walking distance to the underground city, Notre Dame Basilica, Old Montreal, China Town..where you can grap something to eat .. many good restaurants just steps away. The parking is secured but pricey. It's a one way street...

The most surprising thing about this hotel is its lobby. It is almost like a oriental garden with a large fish pool with stone walks criss-crossing over it. The decor is complete with beautiful statues. The hotel is very conveniently located within the old part of Montreal - just two block away from the beautiful Notredame Church. It is in...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
