Hotel was a little hard to get to but once there everything worked out well. The inside was very nicely decorated, the room was spacious and comfortable, the cleanliness was great, the food at the restaurant was very good. Breakfast they offer a cold continental or hot buffet. We chose the cold buffet, it was great. The bed was very...

Hotel runs with a Chinese theme as it is right next to Chinatown, lovely water feature next to the reception area, koi carp included.Rooms more than adequate for the third leg of our stay in Canada, and the hotel is very well placed for venturing anywhere really, the old town is up the hill past the notre dame cathedral, and the new is in the...

Just returned home from the Holiday Inn Montreal Centre-Ville and what a great hotel. Everything was clean beautiful. The main lobby, which is on the second floor, was very pretty, a Chinese garden. The parking garage is underground and $27 per day. You can enter the hotel from street level (floor RC) and the elevator will take you directly from...

We stayed for 2 nights. We stayed on the 5th floor which had recently been renovated. A nice breakfast at the restaurant was included. Looks like the pool and gym are nice but we didn't use them. The only thing I didn't like was that we did not have a mini fridge. We're were told it would be $25 to...

Another hotel found by hotels.com app. I read the reviews and was worried about it being dated so I pulled up and half my family went in to look at it before we booked it. The lobby/check in is on the second floor. So you have to wait for the elevator to take you up. The lobby is nice and...

Dear M S, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay. As for the elevators, they are stopping on the second floor for security reasons as the lobby is located there. I am sorry if it made your stay not as enjoyable as it could have been. We...

I loved the friendly staff and the clean rooms, the hotel has parking under ground which is great. Also one thing about the location if you are not familiar with Montreal this is a tricky hotel to drive to, your GPS get you to the end of the street where you can literally reach out and touch the hotel but...

I normally stay at another hotel in the vicinity, and it was fully booked. So here I am. I have to say, I was very impressed with the hotel. It is right in Montreal's Chinatown, it has secure underground parking on site and the rooms albeit a bit small are all very nicely renovated. When we first got there, I...

I visit Montreal annually for the Montreal Jazz Festival, I was disappointed in this hotel, as there was no concierge, the restaurant had a very limited menu, front desk staff was not helpful regarding any information about Montreal, and had not downtown Montreal brochures in the hotel. This was extremely disappointing. The front desk staff did not even know how...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
