My girlfriend and I were in Montreal for the Reggae festival. This was a great location since we were close to the shows and close to restaurants. The hotel was quiet and clean. Even though there was a lot of music and action downtown during the festival, we were able to get a good and comfortable night sleep. Would consider...

Clean and quiet place. Parking $28 per 24hrs. Love the little gym, swimming pool and jacuzzi. Wonderful breakfast at chez chine located on 2nd floor and as well as a fish pool that is really relaxing. The staff at the holiday inn are friendly and help whenever you need their assistance. Wonderful experience. Will stay again when back to Montréal

Decided on this hotel for the price but also great location right downtown and near the metro. Dissapointed there were no king beds available but made the queens work. Room clean and large enough for our family of three. Very quiet. Wish there would have been a fridge in our room to keep drinks cold. Toddler loved the fish pond...

I was there for work and it was clean and nice. The bed was good and the bathroom was big. I stayed for one night only but I would have stayed longer. Don't go to the hotel restaurant. There are so many good places cheaper and better to eat around.

Although this is an older hotel, it's well-kept and clean. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel decor reflects its Chinatown location and the lobby is a beautiful koi pond. There are fabulous restaurants just outside your door and the metro is right across the street.

Great location near Place d’Armes metro / subway station and the underground city. A 2 minute walk from the Notre Dame cathedral and the old town. 1 minute from the main street of Chinatown and its restaurants. When I arrived I was upgraded to the best room they had, with a view and a balcony (Merci!) Very comfortable bed. I...

The property is within a good walk to the old city for restaurants. It is at least a 10-15 minute walk to a decent restaurant. The food at the hotel is good. The area itself is lacking in anything in particular. The room I was in, was dark. Rooms need better lighting. Also the room was very dry, needs a...

NOT a kid-friendly hotel. The staff is so RUDE!!! A Chinese lady without the uniform who was called VP pointed our baby milk bottle on the table and told the staff "don't let me see these stuff on the table" and asked us which room we stay in the hotel when we were waiting in the lobby to plan to...

PROS: The great thing about this hotel is the location, near to many tourist landmarks and across from the subway to go to the further ones. Beautiful lobby, Chinese themed. Nice views from the room. CONS: The restaurant was over priced, rooms were clean but very basic, there were no mini fridge, tiny closet..

Would recommend this hotel. Within easy walking distance from just about everything you'd want to do. The staff is very friendly. Family of 4 easily fits into the room without being on top of each other.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
