Last summer my husband and I stayed at this small hotel, located across the street from a beautiful city park. We wanted to stay in a new neighborhood and this fit the bill perfectly. It was easy to drive to, parking was available on the street (the small lot was filled) and the neighborhood was just what we hoped for....

The auberge de la Fontaine is amazing!!!!! From the moment you walk in the door it feels like home. The staff could not have been nicer and the room was spotless. The bed was superb! I highly recommend it. The location is perfect walking distance to everything.

Since getting married three years ago my wife and I enjoy "mini-moon" getaways. Montreal was the perfect city for some R & R. Auberge de La Fontaine was the perfect B & B. It's located in La Plateau (a non-tourist part of town) which insured our spirit of adventure. However, a metro was close enough so that we felt we...

We actually stayed here in 2012 but did not know about Trip Advisor then so decided to write a review now. We had a lovely experience here from the friendly, helpful staff to the amazing whirlpool tub in our spacious bathroom and the delicious breakfast (which we were allowed to take and have in our room). Plus there was a...

I came to Montreal to attend a conference at Palais des Congrès, but wanted to avoid the convention hotel experience which, over the years, has become tiresome. We decided that staying in a district off the city center would be fun. Auberge, located in "Le Plateau", turned out to be the perfect place for such an experience. Close to great...

Such a nice place -- quaint, clean and attractive, with friendly staff and a good location. Just two blocks from Boulevard Mont Royal where you can find all sorts of cute restaurants and shops and about a 10 minute walk from the Mont Royal Metro station from where you can get just about anywhere in about 20 minutes. The included...

Great neighborhood location across from the park. Many stores in the area to walk too. Restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops all nearby. Full breakfast, many items to choose from. We parked our car and didn't move it for two days. Our room was on the front overlooking the park. It was warm and comfortable despite the frigid temperature outside.

We are regular visitors to the Auberge and had a park-facing room in the 'second house' side this time. Despite the frigid (-10 C) temps outside, our balcony room was warm and comfortable. Breakfasts continue to their normal high standard of both quality and variety. We walked both downtown and uptown from the Auberge and occasionally grabbed a cab when...

The hotel is in a perfect location for visiting the Plateau region of Montreal with its trendy restaurants and unique shops. Park the car and enjoy the walks. The hotel has that worn look but the staff make up for it with their warm and friendly approach. They were incredibly helpful and responsive. Another treat was the fulsome breakfast, complete...

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
