When we arrived at the hotel parking was limited. So we had to temp park in the back. There was a HUGE rat bigger than a kitten in the garbage right by the back door. In spite of writing a note about making sure we had parking for the truck and calling to confirm that we would be there in...

It was a hell. Our vacation was destroyed. They asked us for $139 and charges us for pet and parking. The room was extra small, cold and in the basement. The handle of washroom did not work and we got stuck, every time we used it. We had to leave the washroom open during using it. The person in charge...

When I got there, I saw how small the room was; even though there was heat in the main room, the bathroom was freezing - I suspect it's always the same temperature as being outside. The walls are paper thin - you hear people going up and down the stairs and talking in the halls and other rooms constantly. Unfortunately,...

Stayed here for the F1 Grand Prix weekend. I'm giving it 2 stars. It is right in the city center and I found the place to be clean. If you just need a bed for the night in the city center then I have no complaints. It's small and not really luxury living but it's inexpensive and does the job....

Upon arrival, the clerk stated that there was no available parking for several blocks of the hotel. The distant, open, parking had no attendant, was littered with rubbish, grafitii and cost a twenty dollar fee. The hotel clerk stated that our reservation file would not open and could not verify our reservation for three adults. He then insisted that we...

I don't know why there are people who comment this hotel in a bad way. I stayed there last month with my friends and we really enjoyed the place. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I saw the comments before I went there. They said there are bugs in the room. But seriously, we didn't see them at all. The...

Hands down the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at. Cheap does not mean it can be unclean, run down, musty, noisy, and generally mis-managed. The bed and bedding were old, unclean, and musty. The floors and walls were filthy, and the whole place smelled. The door-jam had clearly been kicked in and was only screwed back into the wall,...

This is my first review and I am oh so compelled to warn others. What can you say when you arrive from out of town and the owner of the hotel is unable to give you directions to his own hotel. Unbelieveable? We finally found this place on the sleazier side of the downtown core; lots of sex shops etc....

My husband booked this hotel for himself and his colleagues because it was cheap and near to Ecole Polytechnic. Well, as he said, you get what you paid for. Breakfast is muffins and coffee, which you bring up to your room to eat. Walls are thin, bed narrow even for an Asian sized guy. The room is small with no...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
