This hotel is centrally located in the Quartier Latin district of Rue St Denis. There are zillions of restaurants and entertainment venues within walking distance. Bedding is very comfortable; the view from higher floors ensures you a good vista over the city. Plumbing is a problem, however. The shower water temperature was almost impossible to adjust and remained either too... More

Slightly funny place, as its two floors of a "hotel school," but the rooms are totally nice, the location was great for walking or for the metro, good breakfast, very nice and helpful staff. And reasonably priced. We really liked it a lot.

Stayed here one night while visiting Montreal. The hotel is very nice and the location is good. A nice walk to old Montreal. The balcony was a great addition to this very nice and clean room. The staff was very helpful with local attractions and directions. Parking is available in an underground garage.

I stayed 2 nights at this hotel during the Labor Day weekend. The hotel is actually a school, teaching jobs related to the hotel industry. The reception is held by students and they are very professional, 5 stars for them. The room was clean an tidy, rather big I would say, but it felt a little bit old and dark.... More

To get to the hotel, we walked though an interesting mix of small bars and restaurants frequented by students, moms with kids and some very disturbed vagrants. We never felt concerned for our safety, but I could see how someone would. On the other side was a very well kept and ritzy neighborhood. Easy walk to the bus station. Our... More

We just spent 3 nights at this wonderful Hotel. Room was super clean. It has hardwood floor instead of carpets, and you could tell it was cleaned thoroughly. Get a room with a balcony facing West, towards the City and you will enjoy the most amazing views and sunsets while sipping a glasd of wine or tea. The staff were... More

Super clean hotel with beautiful view. Rooms were clean and updated, check in was easy, and breakfast was elegant and delicious. Parking was only 19 a day, and if you didn't use the entire day, you were charged only partially. The hotel was conveniently located above the metro, so it was super easy to get around. Only a 20 min... More

We spent two nights at Hotel de L'Institut and I would definitely return again. The room was large, modern, had good lighting, had a balcony with room to sit and have a glass of wine or cup of coffee, great bathroom with walk-in shower. Quiet even though it is in a busy neighborhood, my room was over a small side... More

Our hotel was right on St-Denis Street, which is full of restaurants and shops. At our arrival we went for nachos at a nice restaurant. For dinner, we went at Les Trois Brasseurs which was very good before going next door to Theatre St-Denis to see Mary Poppins. The room was very nice. It was located on the 7th floor... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
