We were looking for a new place to stay in Montreal as our "go-to" hotel let us down last time. We booked one night at the Auberge Bonaparte. Great location, clean, bright and beautiful rooms and great service at the front desk; I think we found our new go-to hotel! We were upgraded to a king suite; stunning architecture, beautiful...

On a chilly weekend in early March, I had the good fortune of spending two nights at the Auberge Bonaparte. A friend of mine and I were very pleased with the friendly and helpful services of the concierge desk and got great suggestions from them on places to visit in the city. They also helped us book massages at a...

Luc, a gracious, knowledgable host, provides comfortable, spacious, well lighted yet unpretentious accommodations; his efforts are supported by a professional, well-trained staff. The hotel's location puts most of Montreal within strolling distance. The attached restaurant is a "go to" location for locals. The menu and wine list are extensive without being over-powering; both are well chosen, and both are reasonably...

After wanting to stay at this hotel for sometime, we finally did and we were not disappointed!!! It was such a wonderful two nights away together at this amazing place. The rooms were decorated with class and warmth of charm, with high ceilings, wonderful windows with black out curtains, and the sound proofing of the room was excellent giving us one...

Very delightful hotel, comfortable, nice rooms, warm, great staff, great food, great bar and great location. I will be back. The staff seems to exist only for you. The food was great even compared to restaurants that are not tied to hotels.

Spent 3 nights in February. Rooms are beautiful, but it's the service that sets the Auberge apart from all others. The entire staff made it clear that our happiness and comfort was their only concern. Special praise for Luc the concierge and Christophe and his entire dining room team. The food was wonderful but it was the service tat made...

From the expertly served, delicious breakfast in the beautiful dining room to the clean, comfortable, character filled rooms: it was all perfect. Despite the cold outside, the staff made us feel warm and welcomed.

Honestly, this is the best value hotel I have stayed at in Canada. Barring a real steal that I can sometimes get on Hotwire, Priceline, using points or sometimes on fairmont.com, there is nothing that can beat this wonderfully quaint Auberge for price, location and value. Fantastic hot breakfast is included, as well as Internet. Location in Old Montreal is...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
