We loved this hotel. Cannot fault this hotel, from arrival to departure it was perfect. Close to everything, pretty and spacious room, very clean, great friendly staff, and the best restaurant ever. Breakfast was beautiful every day, and the dinner we had was incredible, five star, not cheap but worth every cent! Only hotel I would stay at in Montreal...

The ambience and services at The Bonaparte are wonderful. The staff could not be more helpful. The restaurant is one of the best in the city and the breakfast , which was included, is delicious. Location is convenient and conducive to walking. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Montreal.

We booked a king room which was on the fourth floor on the back side of the hotel (window facing towards river but without view of river). Our room was next to the elevator but we heard very little external noise except occasional, faint church bells tolling. The breakfast (included in room price) was delicious. The service was truly outstanding...

We (early 60s couple) stayed here for two nights before boarding a cruise ship in October 2016; we made our choice largely based on high TripAdvisor reviews and were not disappointed. The hotel is located in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal), very close to Notre Dame cathedral and the cruise port (more on that below) and a short walk to pretty much...

A very friendly staff greeted us and were patient with our attempt at speaking French. They had wonderful suggestion for restaurants and other places of interests. Hotel is in the heart of old...

Great small hotel with wonderful service and food. The rooms were stupendous decorated, equipped and big size. The location is perfect for strolling around Vieux-Montreal, just around the corner of the Basilique Notre-Dame Montreal.

From start to finish, our stay was perfection. The staff is professional, friendly, helpful and courteous. I could not fault them. The rooms are open, airy and comfortable. The food in the restaurant is exceptional. The Bonaparte is located in Old Montreal. It's walking distance to downtown,Chinatown, the old port and all manner of shops, eating establishments and historical venues. We will return.

We stayed here for three nights over Easter weekend. The front staff was helpful and friendly from the minute we walked in the door until we left. The location is on a quiet side street in Old Montreal right around the block from Notre Dame. Our 4th floor room had a view of Notre Dame and was especially pretty at...

The Hotel Bonaparte is a lovely boutique hotel located in old Montreal. Check in was fast and easy. The front desk reception was always very pleasant and attentive. The room on the 4th floor was clean and bright and even though the room faced the street, there was never an issue with noise. Bed was comfortable. The hotel is old...

We enjoyed our two nights at hotel Bonaparte. Room is exceptionally clean and very quiet. Our room was on the third floor & overlooked the garden area in behind the Basilica. We were located next to the elevator but had no issues with noise. The location is perfect for touring old Montreal. Close to plenty of galleries, shops and restaurants....

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
