Honestly after reading reviews on here I was expecting far worse than it actually was. The hotel is kept clean and you can tell the owner works hard keeping the hotel running good. Parking was decent and no where as bad as everyone has said in reviews, I was never asked once to move my car and there was 4...

We have just spent 2 weeks at this budget hotel. It is well situated for the town of Montreal, being close to the Centre Ville and right nearby the Village (Gay area). There are a range of Cafes and a McDonalds virtually opposite. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. WiFi is free. There is an under counter Fridge...

It is a very basic hotel, and one of the cheapest hotels in montreal. Its close to the centre. The breakfast included was a muffin or a croissant, which was ok, if your not a big eater like me. I would not say it was the cleanest, there were a couple of stains in the room I didn't want to...

This hotel is very small and by far luxurious. It is basic but very clean and comfortable as a city rest stop. It is located in the heart of the city near to the gay village and the shopping hub. There are lots of bars and restaurants nearby as well as local shopping marts and the odd 'dollarama'. The employee...

When we got to the reception , we had trouble with the employee. Not only we did not understand what he was saying but the price they charged us was higher then the one on the site . Although I called the night before to make sure of the prices , we were changed 108 instead of 70 ..The parking...

I have visited Montreal for the last 5 years. I go alone and have checked out all the hotels in the Montreal area. I can tell you this, if you are looking for a cheap, close to downtown hotel and there are going to be one or two people in your party, this is the place to go. It has...

If there is something lower than terrible in the rating-that's Hotel Ste Catherine First off, you have to double check the address when you walk in because it is like walking in to a low class apartment building. The office is on the second floor and..actually there is no first floor. So if you are carrying big luggage carry them...

I have to agree with the other comments regaring cleanliness – STAY AWAY. The only good quality this “hotel” had for me was the location. But after now being there, that wasn’t good enough either. It was not worth it at all. I travel a lot and stay in many cheap hotels and do not expect a lot. I do...

Rooms are located on 2nd and 3rd floors. The hotel has its own parking lot, though small. They charge ten dollars per night for parking. The staff is friendly and polite. They speak English. My room was quiet. The subway station is close, one and a half blocks away, and there is a supermarket and a vegetable stand near the...

This hotel leaves much to be desired! My first introduction to this hotel was awful! The carpet is matted with God knows what and the smell is that of a car tree airfreshener. I followed a woman up the stairs who was bouncing off the walls either drunk or high on something. As I followed her up the steps I...

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.

“The room was just right for one person and would probably be cramped for two. The bathroom was tiny so some people may be uncomfortable. There were no windows but a skylight. There was a deadbolt lock which did not work. I feel that if someone wanted to walk into the room they probably could without a key.”
