A bite from our full experience review - “Consider this hotel as a glass of fine, aged wine: not entirely predictable, not suitable to be drank fast, but rewarding for anyone taking their time to savour. “

A beautiful room, lovely hosts, great location, incredible breakfast. Just perfect. I wish my stay had been longer and I that I had remembered to purchase some macarons. Thank you again Ephraim and Yves.

So you would like to live the life of a Montrealer for a day or more. Where to stay? Don't choose downtown or a commercial hotel - they often lack charm and are farther from nightlife. Instead, seek out the neighbourhood of the inhabitants and poets near Parc St Louis. Take your dinner on St Laurent or St Denis and...

My 18 year old daughter and I stayed at the Gingerbread Manor for just two nights, during a quick weekend trip to visit my older daughter, attending university in Montreal. We arrived late Friday night, but the innkeepers arranged everything for us to easily "check" ourselves in and get settled quickly. The B&B was very easy to find, and I...

If you're looking for an intimate, neighborhood experience in Montreal, look no further. This B&B is in a perfect location less than two blocks from the Sherbrooke Metro Station, walking through lovely Square St. Louis to get there. You need to able to climb stairs to the rooms, but every other aspect of this quiet, unassuming inn was positive.

After a week or so of chain hotels Gingerbread Manor was like a breathe of fresh air. It's a charming old house tastefully renovated by it's owners located in a quiet, residential street but just a 10-15 minute walk from the old town. We had a huge room with a huge bed, it was clean, comfortable and had everything we...

Two nights were spent here and was immediately put off when no assistance was offered by two younger male innkeepers, both of whom were present, one behind closed doors, upon my arrival, who knew my arrival time; yet, I had the onerous task of lifting a 40lb. suitcase, on my own and having to climb, unassisted, two lengthy and steep...

We stayed at this B&B for two nights, and whilst the location was great and the room (we had the "Cartier Room") and en suite were a good size and clean, that's the end of the positives unfortunately. We found one of the hosts - Ephriam to be obnoxious and quite overpowering. He needs to take the advice of several...

The hotel is in a very beautiful Victorian building with many original features such as ornate cornicing, detailed stained glass, hand carved wooden doors and a sweeping staircase in the centre of the house. There was a large bathroom on each floor shared between two bedrooms and a third room with ensuite. All looked very clean and modern. All rooms...

Travelling solo for the weekend, I got one of the smaller rooms. Bed was extremely comfortable and the bedding is of high quality (i.e. nice pillows and blankets). The smaller rooms are very cute and the larger rooms are incredibly lovely, all with parquet wood floors, large windows, and tasteful decor. The rooms and bathrooms are kept impeccably clean, breakfasts...

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
