Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had to book a couple nights in PEI on short notice based on a last minute event. This motel was dog friendly and the only place that had availability for two consecutive nights. The property was for sale a few years ago when my s/o stayed here for work, and it has recently been sold. Renovations are in progress and there was debris in the yard (shelving unit, random cutlery, mattresses) . Rooms are being painted and fixed up. The answering machine still has a greeting from the previous owner stating they are only doing long term rentals due to COVID. There are a number of people living there full time. Very quiet spot. Fox from across the street comes to visit. There is no management or staff on site overnight but they will give you a number to call. Our group consisted of four of us and four dogs, so we were given a cabin and a double queen room. Both were very clean. Both bathrooms had broken toilet seats, so I do recommend asking for a room with a toilet seat that isn't broken. AC is available in some rooms, but not the cottages. The AC worked great in the hotel room Wifi doesn't work in the cottages but they do advise you of this both at check in and in writing. I had some work to do online so I simply sat outside the main building to complete the work. There is hotel bar soap in the bathroom but be sure to bring shampoo and other toiletries. Fridge and stove were very clean. I recommend bringing cutlery as there was one fork. There's a sponge and dish soap there. Bring a tea towel if you want to dry the dishes. I left them in the rack as i found them. Nice grounds. Old school playground from the 70s made me wish i had littles to play there :).

The room was fairly modern with clean linens and comfortable beds. There were lots of pillows. The AC was in the window and blew directly on the bed. The kitchenette served our needs well but I didn’t see utensils. The fridge was full size. I would stay again if the price was right!

I have stayed at this motel many times . It is ALWAYS clean and comfortable. The staff is very accommodating and ready to help with any requests. It is a family run business and is located close to shopping. The beach is not far away.

We stayed in August 2022 and were so incredibly disappointed with this motel. It was dirty (wood floors had stains from previous guests, hair and public hair in shower, something disgusting was dripping down the bathroom walls, etc). Worst of all was the horrible smell of rot and years and years of smoking. It was unbearable so we cut our losses and left. The owners need to put some money and effort into renovating and properly cleaning this property or just tear it down and start new. Do not stay here of you're looking for a comfortable, safe or clean place.

I would give this place zero stars if I could as we could not even stay here. While on route to PEI hours away from our destination, we get a call from the motel cancelling our room. The kids and us were left with no place to stay. Since it was last minute we couldn’t find anywhere else to stay and they refused to help us. Very disappointing.

I arrived at the Summerside Motel Sept. 5, 2012 at 9:30pm. The phone didn't work, there was a loose connection. Mold was around the caulking in the tub and down the wall. The mattress was broken down and should have been thrown out years ago. The floor had food pieces on it. The bathroom is outdated, everything is green with yellowish tub surround. There was also no shampoo, no hot water and no hair dryer.

This Motel had bugs in the room in the beds and we had no sleep at all from it.They weren't actually bed bugs, but it was some sort of insect.I killed three of them and when we lifted up the mattresses we found more.We were very grossed out but it was very late at night when we got back to the motel and found them,so couldn't do anything about it.Our daughters slept bundled in lots of clothes and their blankets. They thought the bugs were disgusting. They wanted to sleep in the car,but didn't and I got no sleep at all cause I couldn't stop thinking about the bugs too.

Response from scottconrad, Owner at Summerside Motel
Responded 21 Sept 2011
We were very upset to hear about your discomfort and obvious disgust with the "bugs". In fact, these bugs were, we believe earwigs, which are totally disgusting insects. We have taken steps to eradicate these insects from the premises and have not received any other complaints about them. We feel confident that we are earwig free. We apologize for your unacceptable stay. Janice Holmes

I have no idea. You would have to contact the motel. I was only a guest there.
