The Drake is an absolutely charming place to stay. The building is quirky and brimming with a mixture of amazing artefacts and cool modern pieces. But even better than this are the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they all obviously love their jobs. Taking a pride in the quality of food and service they offer combined with being...

Honestly, I was and am so impressed with this hotel. I booked a room in this hotel for a staycation for my girlfriend and I on the night I proposed. I called ahead and told the hotel what was happening. Within a few days the manager (Jonathan) called me, and we chatted about my plans. He was so supportive and...

I had driven two hours in from the small town in Ontario where I live to attend a Toronto Poetry Slam evening in the Drake Underground (this is a very cool property with club, lounge and sky bar) so went upstairs to have a drink. The bartender who served heard my plight and managed to get just me into the...

Been here many times at the restaurant as well as for events. Had a great time every time. The restaurant/bar is on the pricier side but you know that going in and that's common for the type place it is. The food is pretty good, but I wouldn't go there for the food. It's best for drinks and light dinner...

The Drake is in a very happening part of Queen St. West. Lots of small shops and stores. Great scones and breakfasts at Drake Cafe. Staff are young, congenial and helpful. Our room while not large was well designed to use the space. Downtown is a 40 minute walk but flat and interesting.

My husband and I both absolutely love it here. I was nervous about staying on Queen St (cleanliness in the city) but this place is spotless! Smells divine in our room. Great welcome gift, outstanding service, fun vibe. Big price tag but worth it for the proximity to Billy Bishop and a great experience! NOT for people looking for Shangri-La...

Once again, I've enjoyed a restorative, fun and inspiring visit to the Drake Hotel Toronto. From the moment I was greeted by a front desk staff who remembered that it was a return visit, to a lingering, wistful last few seconds in my beloved little Crashpad room, I felt happy and safe in downtown Toronto. It's been a while since...

In the last seven years I've stayed at the Drake three times, and each time the expereince of the hotel has been fantastic. From checking in, to service, location, ability to party and for checking out. Jonathan and team are just fabulous. Once again The Drake demonstrated what a great hotel should be, and what others should aspire to. Local...

Staying in Queen Street and West Queen West

Neighbourhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
