My husband and I both absolutely love it here. I was nervous about staying on Queen St (cleanliness in the city) but this place is spotless! Smells divine in our room. Great welcome gift, outstanding service, fun vibe. Big price tag but worth it for the proximity to Billy Bishop and a great experience! NOT for people looking for Shangri-La...

Once again, I've enjoyed a restorative, fun and inspiring visit to the Drake Hotel Toronto. From the moment I was greeted by a front desk staff who remembered that it was a return visit, to a lingering, wistful last few seconds in my beloved little Crashpad room, I felt happy and safe in downtown Toronto. It's been a while since...

In the last seven years I've stayed at the Drake three times, and each time the expereince of the hotel has been fantastic. From checking in, to service, location, ability to party and for checking out. Jonathan and team are just fabulous. Once again The Drake demonstrated what a great hotel should be, and what others should aspire to. Local...

This was one of the sexiest hotels my partner and I have been to. We loved our quirky little room and its very own sex catalog! It's definitely recommended for a sexy city getaway. We got two free coffees/ teas with our breakfast and %10 off anything at the Drake General Store with our stay. The staff were very friendly...

As others have remarked, this hotel is not for everyone but we enjoyed our stay here and loved its unique qualities. We had an excellent dinner, drinks, and breakfast in the cafe and rooftop bar. The service was incredibly friendly. We had a blast at the trivia night and danced at the basement club one night (as a guest you...

Brilliant quirky, friendly hotel! Visited at the end of May 16 from England. I booked because of the hotels quirky style, it did not disappoint. Rooms are well equipped everything you'll need for your stay. I requested to stay in one of the rooms furthest from the bar and didn't have any problem with noise. We stayed in the den,...

Found this hotel through trip advisor and based on the reviews decided to book a room. We have not been disappointed. We booked well in advance and were able to make additional arrangements for our stay via email including a birthday surprise. When we arrived to check in they immediately referred to the birthday and announced that we had been...

Before our stay, we received an email asking if we had any special requests. We requested a hand drawn picture of a dinosaur in our room, and the staff were happy to play along with our quirky request and provided us with the cutest picture of a dinosaur. It's on the hotel's Instagram page! We were provided with a room...

I spent a week in Toronto with my partner last October and decided to book a night at the Drake. The rooms had a lot of different and quirky additions to it you wouldn't see in a run of the mill hotel. From the interesting art placed on the walls to the ugly doll resting on the pillow it was...

Staying in Queen Street and West Queen West

Neighbourhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
