We spent just one night here, as we needed a place to stay after arriving from Montreal and before flying to the U.S. the next day. We were welcomed by the staff at the counter when checking in. They gave us all the information we needed, including the fact that we should drop off our keys when checking out, as... More

This converted Victorian house offers clean comfortable accommodation in a great location. One block from Yonge St in the Church - Wellesley Village the location is quiet but close to restaurants, pubs and night clubs. Steps from the subway. Walking distance to the Royal Ontario Museum. I recommend this guest house.

We spent some time travelling in Canada and we could not afford a hotel in Toronto. The accommodation here in this city is very expensive! Victoria's was a good guest house (people must understand that a guest house is not a hotel). My room was tiny but had a TV, a desk, a small closet and other stuff to make... More

The photos on their website are very misleading. The room we were in (6) was very small and could not be described (as per the brochure) as a luxury suite. There was rubbish in the room on arrival, the electrics were in a dangerous state with even a notice saying not to use more than one appliance at a time. The... More

Dear Tony. I am so sorry you had such a bad experience in room 6! I know that you were unhappy with the size of the room, but nowhere on your booking site did I see it ever described as a luxury suite--our rooms are not large but they do have all the amenities described and at a very reasonable... The rooms were very clean. And the rates are totally reasonable. The staff was very friendly. Its location provides easy access to many of the city's attractions (The Hockey Hall of Fame, Eaton Centre, and the water front). In addition, there are hundreds of bars and restaurants within walking distance.

We booked this place as an alternative to high price hotels and it's location. As it was an older home I originally thought it was a B&B....not what I had planned for but it was satisfactory. The room we stayed in had only a window in the door to let in light...Unfortunately our deck was being shared by another couple... More

I stumbled upon this property because it was close to the Wellesley subway station and the Village. The price met my budget and overall enjoyed my stay. When I arrived at Toronto Pearson Airport, I took the UP Express to Union Station and from there connected to the Green Line to Wellesley station. From the Wellesley station, it was just... More

I had a small single room on the first floor, which was clean and provided everything I needed; tv, table, kettle, microwave, fridge and assorted cutlery (no restaurant so you've to sort your own meals, including breakfast). I only spoke to the friendly staff when I was checking out as I checked in after 7pm, when the hotel isn't staffed.... More

The little 3rd-floor room I booked at Victoria's Mansion met all my needs and turned out to be cozy and comfortable. It was very easy to get to - I rode the "Flyer" from the Toronto Pearson airport, then took the subway to a transfer point quite near the hotel. It was really easy to use the door codes and... More

This is a very modest, tacky and run down hostel, not a guest house or an inn. It is not quaint or authentic in any sense just tacky and barely functional. The first thing you will notice is the smell. I couldn't pinpoint why but the whole house smells like cheap, noxious hairspray. My room didn't have a window! Rather... More

It has taken me a while to reply to this review as I had very mixed feelings about how to reply--we certainly were expecting it as you made it clear that you would write as many negative things as possible in as many places as possible, all as a result of the fact that you were charged $50 for losing... Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
