This was our first stay at Strathcona. We usually stay at Royal York but tired of the expensive rates so as this hotel is across the street, we tried it this weekend and I'm glad we did! First, you cannot beat the location, especially if this is your first visit to Toronto as you can walk to many attractions: Hockey...

No frills hotel with excellent location to downtown. CN tower is in the backyard. Union Express train runs from Pearson airport to Union Station, which is literally across the street from the Strathcona hotel. Area feels safe and is lined with coffee shops and restaurants. Clean, well located hotel, but paper thin walls.

Perfect location close to Union station and all amenities; clean, simple rooms with iron & board; my corporate website advertised rate included breakfast but I was told when I checked in it was not; I double-checked my corporate website and verified it said breakfast, re-booked mainly due to location, and mentioned the breakfast issue: Guest Services Manager Johnny Aliyianis gave...

The hotel staff were friendly and hotel was conveniently located. I had a room with two double beds, a bit tight. The beds were not supper comfortable but they did the job. Room was quiet with no noise from the street. The bathroom was OK. More importantly - everything was clean. I would return - not bad value for your...

A good location and a welcoming lobby area but unfortunately the rooms were not great. At midnight if you couldn't hear the traffic you could hear the bins being emptied outside. The showers were average at best, rooms small and basic, the really terrible part was the breakfast which was always cold.

This hotel is in a fantastic location, and was an amazing deal. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. I walked everywhere I wanted to go. The hotel is very clean, bed is lovely, the room is small but for all the time you spend there it doesn't matter. I didn't get an opportunity to check out the pub but hope...

The room was clean and cozy.Me and my wife stayed here for 2 days. The main highlights of my stay was the central location and the staff at the reception.Very helpful and friendly people. Close to some good restaurants as well.Prices were also reasonable for the services.

Awesome location. Very close to Union Station/ the UP train from Pearson Airport. Very nice small economy room. Warm, cozy and all I needed, except for a safe- there wasn't one. That would have been nice. However, they offered to hold my laptop and passport for me when I went out, which was nice. Small "restaurant" upstairs serves tapas for...

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
