It is hard for me to review this B&B as my husband 'didn't mind it', while I was very unhappy with my choice to stay at Jarvis House. The photos of the outside of the building are very misleading-the building glows in sunlight ,whereas in reality it is grey and drab. I had booked a certain room only to arrive...

My time at Jarvis B&B was good. My room had a perfect size and it was clean. I was in downtown for studying at Jarvis street. So it was the best distance to my school. The breakfast was very nice. Eggs and bacon of my choice, fruits, cereals etc. My room was right beside the breakfast room but not noisy....

I have very mixed feelings about this place. We had a great deal of difficulty lining up budget accommodations in the placed featured in guide books (I had not understood before I arrived that what we celebrate as Columbus Day in the US is the Canadian Thanksgiving), so I took a chance on this place despite the unpleasant one-star review...

Pictures posted on the web site are very misleading, the place is a slum. Exterior and interior is run down, and dirty. The Owner over billed me, by 2 nights, had to cancell my visa in fear of other charges. Had to look elsewhere, bad surroundings, did not feel safe. Not happy.

It's right downtown and close to the streetcars and subway. Jarvis is a very busy street, almost like a highway, so it's noisy. The room we stayed in was OK, but small. We did NOT enjoy the constant partying that was going on by the adjoining houses, I think students live there and they party on the deck screaming and...

If one stays on the 3rd floor with no elevator and 2 rather heavy suiutcases plus handluggage that is hard, hard work The room's furniture is very much outdated. The bathroom is very, very small with a shower that does not work properly and the placement of the toilet is such that I as a man had to sit askew...

My husband and I were looking for a centrally located hotel in Toronto and found the Jarvis House to be what were looking for-much better pricing than any hotel around that area. Our room faced the busy street but you would never know it- we never heard the traffic! Parking in back was convenient and saved us having to find...

We arrived at the Jarvis House hoping for a nice, relaxing place to stay. We were extremely dissapointed. The house needs new carpet and a paint job very badly. The TV in our room was tiny and from the 90's. Our shower was so small it was difficult to even move around. I traveled with my parents to Toronto. The...

Researched many B&Bs in Toronto area and found that Jarvis House had the best cost for the area we wanted to stay in. There are many room options to choose from and we were actually upgraded to a better room upon arrival (Room #5) without having to ask since it was a slower time and they had the space. The...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.

“I can only describe Room #6 where I stayed for five (5) days. It was just the right space for one guest (maybe for a couple) with one luggage. The room has a queen size bed, a closet, a set of drawers, a private bathroom, an A/C and a small TV with a few selection of channels. The room has a window big enough for clarity. All in all, the room is clean and maintained clean.”
