Great Stay heart of Toronto, Safe, secure, top of the line service. Just the construction was unexpected. We also did not have a view out the window as it was cover for privacy from the outside workers.

The Royal York is a classic. The staff are extremely friendly and they provide professional service. The restaurant and lounges are unique and the hotel has a great pool, and fitness area. A nice quiet hotel in downtown Toronto.

The Fairmont Royal York to me, is the epitome of luxury and sets the standard in the hospitality industry. Perhaps the décor to some may be outdated or even garish, but to me the architecture and attention to detail along with the craftsmanship & history always impresses me. Just sit in one of the wing back chairs in the main...

We stayed in March 2012 for the Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year Awards at Queen's Park as my daughter was one of the recipients for 2011. I am biased as a very close relative "JM" was an icon staff member for over 60+ years until she retired in the 90's I believe. (At her funeral they said if she...

Was in Toronto for a business meeting and we were booked at the Royal York. Its a great spot to stay because its right in the middle of the city. Close to public transportation and restaurants. Its even connected to the path system of underground pathways. I ended up with one of the renovated rooms and it was great.

Dear cnomis, Thank you for your review. It is wonderful to know that upon first impression, you found the hotel stunning. Our stay was like a very bad joke. Firstly, we had to walk through clouds of dust, as the carpets by the lifts were being removed. Then we were given a disabled room when we didn't want one. When we were moved to another room, which was supposed to be renovated, there was thick black mould and damp on the...

Dear Lucia2UK, Thank you for your review. I am very concerned by your comments and sincerely apologize for your experience. The rooms in the vicinity of the carpet replacement should have been removed from service and the second room you were assigned to also should have been placed out of order. It is truly rare for an oversight of this...

Wonderful hotel in a very convenient location in Toronto. The hotel is very luxurious of course, and the fantastic service and quality live up to that. We walked to the Blue Jays game from here, and there were a lot of other amenities within walking distance.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
