Within walking distance of the downtown area of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Schoolmaster's House has a nicely decorated first floor where the dining area and sitting rooms are located for guests. We parked our car in a small parking area right next to the inn. A large fenced back yard features small sitting areas and a table and chairs for outdoor dinner seating,...

Since your visit last August (2015), a lot has changed at the Schoolmaster's House, including new owners. We are pleased to be partnering with NEOB (Niagara Essential Oils and Blends) and have stocked the rooms with luxury, locally made bath products. Additional lighting and ceiling fan have been installed. The house is fully air conditioned and each room has windows...

My husband arranged our trip to Niagra-on-the-Lake and we are so glad he found the Schoolmaster's House B&B. He chose the Garden Room with its private bath and entrance into a beautiful inviting garden with flowers, private spots to rest and enjoy the garden and some wine and an inviting fish pond. The grounds are neatly groomed and the home...

We had a wonderful stay at the Schoolmaster's House B&B. Elsie-Mae & Jason were lovely hosts. They provided great suggestions on things to do and sent us off with a fabulous breakfast each morning. The rooms are spotless & nicely decorated The B&B is in a great location. The beautiful gardens are an added bonus. We would highly recommend.

Homey atmosphere, amazing breakfasts, Enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful garden. Convenient to town and on a quiet street. Hostess was very helpful and accomodating. We would go back just for the scones!

We stayed one night at the Schoolmaster's House bed and breakfast in June. We received a warm welcome and a tour of the beautiful house, nearly two hundred years old. Our suite was beautiful, with two bedrooms, a sitting room and bathroom, all spotlessly clean and charming. The bathroom had lovely local toiletries, soft towels and a beautiful roll-top bath...

This was a wonderful place to spend a rainy and cool May week-end-the beauty and charm of this home and the welcoming presence of Elsie-Mae and her husband Jason, made up for the less than ideal weather conditions. Elsie-Mae had been the proprietor of this B&B for a mere 3 weeks at the time of our stay but she seemed...

We like B&Bs with history and we found it here. Walked into town for dinner and had early morning runs around town. Very safe. Breakfast was wonderful. Sit outside and enjoy the beautiful gardens. We will be coming back.

A lovely large comfortable room and a house with great character. Diane and Alan were very good and helpful hosts, advising us on our next destinations and even printing off some travel details for us. A delicious freshly baked breakfast with Diane's home made preserves - I recommend the peach chutney! Shame we only had one night. Thanks for helping...

On our voyage home from Boston, after a week long cruise up the east coast, we stayed at the Schoolmaster's House B&B for 2 nights. This was truly "icing on the cake" of a great vacation. Diane and Alan are outstanding hosts. They made us feel at home as soon as we walked in the door. We had the smallest...

We were so glad you had decided to stay in our Historic Town for two days on the way back home. Our little town of 15,000 residents has three million visitors a year. Some visitors don't realize that we have Shaw Festival Theatre, great wineries, great scenery and history galore. They read in their guide books that it is the...

Diane and Alan were amazing hosts. This is a beautiful B&B with loads of character. The room was super clean, the breakfast was delicious and the hospitality was excellent. You can tell they love running a B&B and are passionate about it. Overall, a wonderful stay. Thank you so much! Laura and Innes.

Thank you for your amazing review. It was such a pleasure to meet you both. We were so glad that you had booked the Garden View Room because of Innes height. Our home is faithfully restored but those low doorways from a house built in 1818 could have been a challenge for Innes being six foot seven. We do love...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to The Schoolmaster's House, circa 1818. As former tutoring home for Empire Loyalist families in the 1880's, we are ideally situated at the heart of Niagara on the Lake Wine country. Just a short stroll from the theaters, shops and fine dining of Canada's prettiest Town. Our B&B has been exquisitely and faithfully restored, one of the early nineteenth century Niagara on the Lake Bed and Breakfasts. This is the ideal home away from home from which to begin and to finish your day. Enchanting bed accommodations ensure you'll wake well rested and feeling refreshed prior to venturing forth to walk, hike, bike or drive our scenic parkways, vineyards, tree-lined boulevards and lake front parks. Jason and Elsie Mae are the new proud owners of this heritage Ontario home. They invite you to explore their Niagara on the Lake B&B and to spend time with them during the theater season. This Historic Niagara on the Lake bed and breakfast contributes to the wonderful character and unique flavour in the Old Town. ... more   less
