Hotel's Favourite
Our first time staying and we will be back!! Previously stayed at a hotel outside of town (no amenities, declining customer service), but this will be our number one choice going forward. We had a room with the scenic water view. We could watch the boats and the cityscape from our balcony. Room was clean and service was excellent from front desk to cleaning and restaurant staff. While we were there (three nights) there was a large convention and, on the weekend, a wedding (or two). With all that going on, our room was still very quiet and no issue for sleeping. Nice dining inside as well as outside patio. We hosted a small dinner with family and the restaurant staff was extremely accommodating. Looking forward to visiting again!

The hotel is in a great location and we enjoyed listening to music and watching the water from the balcony. However, the service falls well below what you would expect for a 4 star property charging upwards of 500 per night. Most glaringly, the hotel is not providing housekeeping service-- even on request. The failure to refresh the rooms daily shows in the faint funk in the hall and the less than spotless condition of our room on arrival. Using the pandemic as an excuse not to provide the basic level of service one expects at a hotel is not okay. I would be extremely reluctant to stay at this or other Holiday Inns in the future as a result.

Hello Jess, Thank you for your feedback. As part of IHG's Clean Promise guest rooms are only cleaned on the 5th day of a stay, unless a guest requests it more frequently, as part of our new COVID-19 cleaning procedures. That being said, we are happy to clean a guests room on any day of a stay as long as it is coordinated with the front desk in the morning. All we need to do is confirm a time during the day when a guest will be out of the room so our housekeeper can stop by to clean it. I have shared your feedback with our front desk team to ensure that the policy is more clearly communicated at check-in in the future. Sincerely, Sam

As a parent of a Queen's student, I have heard wonderful things about this hotel over the years, but this was my first stay. I was a bit nervous about staying at a hotel during the the pandemic, but my concerns were alleviated as soon as I arrived when I realized the meticulous level of cleanliness and care that are clearly being taken here. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we were well-cared for.
In addition to being in a well-kept, comfortable, newly renovated room, we had a beautiful view right over the water of Crawford Wharf from our balcony to watch the sunset in the evening with a glass of wine. We will definitely stay here again!

I was thrilled to read your feedback and so happy that our staff was able to make such a positive impact on your experience at our hotel. All of our staff work very hard to ensure our guests feel safe and comfortable when staying with us. We stayed at this hotel in August and we were very pleased with the location of this hotel. It is a prime location to restaurants, shops and activities. The room was nice as was our view of the harbour from our room. The beds were comfortable, there was lots of counter space in the bathroom and lots of amenities (shower soap, shampoo, body lotion etc.) Keurig cups and bottles of waters were provided at no charge. The only thing room wise that we missed was an in room safe. We also didn't appreciate the extra cost to pay for parking even if it was discounted with our stay - $28 a night adds up!
What we did not like were the spiders!!! There were so many on the balcony that, unfortunately, we could not use it. There was also a rip in the screen door so we couldn't even keep the door open for fear of spiders getting in which one did. There were also spiders in the corners of the ceiling and along the ceiling in the restaurant. The hotel may want to consider having someone come in to reduce the number of spiders.

Hi CAB31523, Thank you so much for your review of our hotel. I am glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. Our staff work quite hard to make sure everything is great, so we value your feedback. We also hear you on the spiders, being right next to the water makes it a bit of a challenge. However hopefully for your next stay it will have been worked out! We hope you will visit us again. Great location, easy to walk to anything in a huge radius. Clean room, comfortable bed, reliable WIFI and soap/shampoo/conditioner in bathroom are in larger bottled attached to the wall so less waste, in my opinion. The water pressure in the bathroom is not greatest. Some Holiday Inn offer complimentary continental breakfast but this one didn’t. We asked for extra coffee in the room and we got it but harder to get the cream/whitener for your coffee. Parking has a daily fee, which is normal but still adds to your bill. Nice and rare hotel with balconies. Unfortunately, they are not cleaned so you can’t sit on them to enjoy the view with your morning coffee or afternoon cocktail.

My wife and I spent last weekend at Holiday Inn Waterfront, and it was a nice relaxing trip. The hotel is newly renovated, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The BEST thing about this hotel is its location! If you book a Harbor view room (recommended), expect a great view over the marina and City Hall. Boats come and go all the time and from you balcony you can hear in the distance music coming from the restaurant/bar on the pier. A LOT of restaurants/bars and entertainment are few steps away from the hotel. The ferry to Wolf Island is also few minutes walk from the hotel.
We really enjoyed out stay, but there are few cons too:
- Parking costs us $24 a night, a bit high in my point of view
- Each room gets ONE breakfast voucher, we paid for the second
- The balcony does not seem to get regular cleaning. Spider web on the railing and seagull dropping on the floor, but still this was my favorite sitting place. The view was spectacular!

I booked a balcony view room over the harbor for two nights, for my husband's "milestone" birthday. We were pleased with the renovations that had been done, and the extremely courteous staff at the front desk and in the dining/patio area.
Our room was clean and well stocked with many towels, soap etc. We were advised that due to Covid, we would not have our room cleaned during our stay, however, towels, or other amenities were only a phone call away. Also, the dining room/patio was closed on Sundays and Mondays, due to lack of staff because of Covid. That was not a worry, as there are many restaurants and pubs within walking distance.
The patio is beautiful. It is looking at the harbour where many boats can be seen sailing or docked. Some seating areas had fire tables (which were all lit at night, reflecting a romantic, calm atmosphere) with large comfy cushioned chairs and love seats. We lucked into live music, as the facility was hosting a small wedding party. The groom actually thanked us for being part of their celebration upon his departure. We ordered appies, many drinks, then dinner. All the food was very tasty, and quickly prepared. Our waitress was extremely friendly and fun to chat with. Later that evening, we sat on our balcony and marveled at the lit up boats in the harbour. One boat had purple lights on top and was playing music. Must have been a party booked. We enjoyed the view and music. This location at then of Princess st. is FANTASTIC! We walked through the beautiful park right beside the hotel. Restaurants, pubs, patios, the Kingston information centre, ice cream shops and stores are within walking distance.
We will definitely return.

I was extremely disappointed in my experience with this hotel from the time I set foot in the door. I am a business traveler, who unfortunately had to stay in this hotel on a Friday evening when it was overrun with hockey teams staying for a tournament.
The hotel was very clearly not prepared to deal with the situation, as on my arrival the lineup to check in was to the door. I came back two hours later, and it was a bit better, but still extremely busy. The woman checking me in was so distracted by other guests, that she put my deposit through twice even after I told her it had already gone through...I'm still waiting for those transactions to disappear from my credit card 5 days later. On check in I asked to be located in a room away from the hockey teams, but it seems like this was an impossibility. The noise levels were ridiculous, all night long - kids running and screaming in the halls, banging on my door, and crashing through the stair wells. I called the front desk at 7:30pm to see if someone could go talk to the kids and ask them to quiet down a bit, and that helped for about an hour. As the noise ramped up again, I waited until 9:30pm and called the desk again. They said they would send somebody, but it only got worse. I went to the front desk in person at 10pm and they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. Finally at 10:45pm I heard somebody go talk to them, but the noise continued until midnight.
When I mentioned the next morning about how awful my experience was, I was told "we were short staffed". Nevermind that these rooms would have been booked months in advance and the hotel would have known how many rambunctious kids would be staying there that night. Nevermind the fact that the person I spoke to at the front desk told me they had a security guard on the premises... well where was he, and why was he not circulating in the known problem areas? I was really left with the impression like they did not care about their other guests experience.
I sent a follow up email to the hotel including video of how loud it was in my room, and did not even receive a reply.
So heed this warning - if you are staying at this hotel on a weekend in the winter, make sure to ask if there is a hockey tournament in town, or else you may not get any rest.

The best thing about this hotel was its central location, a short walk from the Wolfe Island ferry and the 1000-Island ferry. So many interesting dining and cafe options within easy walking distance on the surrounding streets. Ideal for the car-less traveller. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable, the check-in staff courteous and professional. Luggage storage was provided as I had a late departure on the train. A small balcony was available, although it was too chilly to take advantage. The gym was perfectly adequate, standard for a hotel it’s size. My only reason to not give five stars was that I could hear music for a neighbouring room relatively late. Breakfast was extra so opted for a croissant and latte instead at a nearby cafe on Princess Street.

The location was great but the customer service for the most part was pretty awful
My sister had booked a nicer room that was much more expensive then mine but was awful
She nicely explained the situation at the front desk and the manager (I think her name was Andrea but not 100 percent) was dismissive and actually cold and rude about it. Some of the waitstaff at the restaurant were really nice but then some extremely rude. I think the management is off and is in need of more training. Also the hotel is just not that nice or well kept to be honest. I would not recommend this hotel, especially for the money you pay
Not a good stay for sure
