Just finished an amazing one night stay here. For us this was the perfect amount of time to disconnect for 24 hours. The staff are incredibly attentive & a credit to the business. We enjoyed the chocolate & wine tasting experience, YUM! Followed by cocktail making in the afternoon. A fun time for my partner & I. The staff from start to end were incredibly attentive in particular I’d like to mention a few. The young girl from Estonia running us through the wine tasting, extensive wine knowledge & also great at holding a conversation. The chef, we had many dietary requirements, this was not an issue for the chef, he was able to tailor every meal to our preference. The host that welcomed us, tended to various requests & checked us out, friendly, lovely & warm. Another facility we used was the sauna, conveniently located right beside our room! Room was well appointed & could not be faulted with a nice range of snacks & wine available from the minibar. There is an opportunity to offer more onsite experiences, such as archery & picnics. Thanks for a great stay! World class.

We spent some time researching for that ‘special place’ for my husband’s 60th birthday and selected this small ‘boutique’ retreat; what a fabulous place. Everything was 110% perfect from the moment we got out of our car and were whisked away to the deck for a glass of champagne. We arrived at 12:30pm in time for lunch and were welcomed to the retreat with a glass of Louis Roederer champagne on the large deck soaking up the sun and admiring the wonderful view across to Sydney and Parramatta. What a fantastic start to our stay. Lunch was great and it was pork as the main course; being a Pescatarian they prepared Snapper for me, and these were served with three salad bowls and sourdough bread with miso butter and accompanied by glasses of Even Keel rose. We were taken to our Luxury Bush Suite, and it was AMAZING. King bed (soooo comfortable). Wow, surprised that any guests actually get out of it each morning! There was a small kitchen area behind, a small, and effective, log burning fire, standalone bath and open shower and vanity area. Huge floor to ceiling patio windows onto a large deck the whole width of the room and the same views as from the lounge. There was bottle of Louis Roederer Champagne on ice and a lovely birthday card. Wonderful touch. All staff were friendly, efficient and couldn't have done more for us. Special mention too for Emma and our wonderful massages.! We were there for a two-night stay and both evenings started with drinks by the huge log-burning fire in the lounge followed by excellent five-course dinners with wine pairings. Again, fish dishes were prepared for me. Meal sizes were perfect, wine pairings (standard and Premium) excellent and made to feel so welcome by everyone. We didn't get a chance to use the pool or sauna .. loved just eating, drinking and relaxing in our suite too much! Did manage a couple of walks around the property which is so well maintained. Absolutely fabulous stay ... really worthy of 6*

We only stayed one night unfortunately, would have liked longer but we booked at the last minute owing to a problem where we were supposed to be staying and with only a few sumptuous suites it’s not surprising they were full! We stayed in a “luxury bush suite” and it was gorgeous with an open plan bathroom and large veranda from which we could look down towards Sydney. Fully stocked mini bar and snacks all included and we enjoyed drinking a glass of champagne on our veranda before walking the short distance to dinner. We didn’t have to say what time we wished to dine, which made a nice change. The food at lunch and dinner was delicious, breakfast less so.

Straight up this place is beautiful. It’s quiet, secluded and comfortable. It is in a great location that is easy to reach and has amazing views. The staff are attentive, polite and capable. The food is decadent and satisfying, when you can get it. Negotiate Breakfast OUT of you package For reasons that surpass understanding this “Retreat” stops serving breakfast at 9am. Now the 3 star crowd at least go to 10:30am. I’m up for breaky before 9 on days I go to work. When I’m trying to relax, I’m sleeping in. Not here. We showed up around 10 am on our first day and we were offers eggs on toast in stead of breakfast. We slept in on our last day, got a txt at 9:04am asking if we were coming to breakfast. I show up 15 mins later and I’m told breakfast is closed but I can have condiments on toast, like I’m a 6 year old. I’m not sure who benefits from this policy. Not the guests. DONT PAY FOR BREAKFAST. We paid for it and only got to have it on 1 of the 3 days we stayed because we refuse to set an alarm to wack us up early when we are away at a RETREAT! Breakfast was indeed underwhelming and by far the team’s weakest offering. Breakfast needs a complete reset here. Lunch and Dinner are superb. The flavors and portions are perfect with one exception. Cucumber is not a desert food. We received an inedible cucumber based desert on our last night which was a shame to end on that note after so many delightful meals. The staff are outstanding. Great service (notwithstanding the absurd Breakfast situation) NO WIFI WIFI and all manner of connection are advertised but this is not the case at all. The WIFi and streaming services did not work at all. In fact they were so weak it appeared like there was some sort of long standing terminal error with the connection. We raised this day 1 and despite the matter being raised it’s IT, there was no remedy. So no WIFI for the entire stay. Adults only Unlike many resorts that advertise Adults only this one truly is Adults only. This is our second Spicers stay. We can see what they are trying to achieve. They are close. The location and accom is right. The staff are on point. IT and Breakfast need Executive level intervention.

We chose this as a 3 night retreat for our 30th Anniversary. Despite 3 days or torrential wind and rain the stay was thoroughly relaxing. No reception desk and removal of that business transaction side if things really adds to the homely relaxed feel upon arrival and throughout the stay. Literally nothing to think about other than what to eat and drink next. Food was top shelf as were the generous selection of included wines. Even the included mini bar food and drinks were of the highest quality. Highly recommended. Will come back again and hopefully the sun will follow us next time so we can experience everything this wonderful place has to offer.

We stayed one night in a bush retreat lodge. On arrival we were given a glass of champagne each (though my husband was not asked if he would like a different drink to champagne ...he doesnt drink champagne). We were taken to the restaurant for our included lunch and advised it was a set menu and we would be having steak. There was no choice so am unsure what they would give you if you didnt eat steak. The vegetables were tasty but stone cold. The steak was very tender. Dessert was a sorbet with meringue. The included wine is very good. We went to our room. It was very clean, spacious and nice. Then dinner...again no choice. The appetisers were dried vine leaves but we were told they were cabbage, with a dip of eggplant. The dip was nice but one spoon and no plate was a bit odd to eat with. Corn veloute was nice but again ours was cold. Then kingfish cured in gin. Not everyone eats raw fish so with no alternative this was an odd starter. The main was duck and was lovely but again just lukewarm. The dessert was a kiwi parfait. Breakfast the next morning was supposed a la carte. A small bowl of fruit was placed in front of us. We chose avocado toast with poached eggs and brushetta with an egg. I got one slice toast avocado and 2 cold poached eggs. No cereals, yoghurt, pastries, croissants or muffins were offered. That was breakfast. We would have had a better breakfast in a cafe at Windsor! We thought the wine selection was good, service was good but for $2199 a night the food was inflexible, cold and just disappointing. Not at all what we expected. To have a set menu is fine but please provide a couple of choices. It was very regimented and not at all what I expected for the cost of an overnight stay.

We went to Sangoma to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We stayed for two nights. Easy travel from Sydney despite the Richmond and Windsor bridges being closed due to the recent rains. It was fantastic! We felt thoroughly spoilt from the moment we arrived. The room was gorgeous with fabulous attention to detail. The staff were all friendly and professional, honestly I can’t fault a thing. There was a lovely waitress who’s name I wish I could remember to give her a special mention. The food was all delicious and varied. We did the nearby walk to Vale of Avoca Lookout, I would recommend this walk. The little town of Kurrajong was also a lovely surprise with a couple of nice homeware and clothing stores. In short it was well worth the visit. Compliments to the manager and chefs who made our stay so memorable. Thank you.
