Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our cottage was well kept and well supplied for our visit. It was clean and orderly. The weather wasn’t nice enough to enjoy the deck, but it was pondside and a lovely little propane grill was provided.
The beds were comfortable and the linens were clean. Towels could have been thicker and more were needed - there were three of us. Small bars of soap and shampoo and conditioner satisfied our toiletry needs.
The shower was large and there was plenty of hot water. Water pressure was certainly adequate. The kitchenette had a coffeemaker that produced life-giving fluid for all three of us. There were appliances- fridge, microwave, stove, etc. an air conditioner kept us cool and dry for a comfortable nights sleep.
Overall, a quaint way to spend one night in Shelburne.

This is not a fancy Victorian house spa hotel. It is not a resort. It is not a chain hotel with predictable appointments. This is a family-run motel which offers three types of accommodation: motel room, a couple of suites in the main building, or cottages. We stayed in a suite and were very comfortable. There was a large comfy bed, two arm chairs, a fireplace (which we didn't need), and a basic bathroom. The room was not large (not sure what made it a "suite"), but it was big enough for the two of us. We also enjoyed having a door to the outside with a little patio, bbq, and table and chairs. This was right beside the pool, so it wasn't private, but there was no trouble with noise or horrid people. In fact, both the people who run the place and the people who stay there are really nice. Friendly without being intrusive. The breakfast was also good with fresh coffee and home baked goods.

If the word "motel" makes you run screaming, STOP! This place offers old-fashioned value and hospitality. It is located a 15 -20 minute walk from all of the quaint places that Shelburne has to offer. We liked the walk to and from dinner, which helped us digest the excellent meals we ate.

We stayed for 1 night and it was adequate for a place to sleep. The room size was on a smaller size since we had a king-size bed and they could not position a night table on the other side of the bed because there wasn't enough space. Our luggage sat on top of the night tables because there was no space to park them.

The sheets were clean, as well as the shower, which looked updated. In that tiny room, there was a fridge, coffeemaker and microwave. However, we had to go to the office to ask for coffee and an extra pillow.

I found an empty water bottle behind the night stand, which speaks of the quality of work of their housekeeping.

The motel is located directly on one of the main roads leading to Shelburne. The first negative thing I noticed was that when I wanted to register at the office, I stood there undisturbed for more than 15 minutes; although I rang the bell several times, no one showed up. The room was an average motel room with the usual furniture for motels. The bathroom, however, had obviously been renovated only a short time ago; the bathroom door could only be opened and closed with force.

As our emails to the motel were not answered prior to our stay, the management of this establishment does not seem to be up to the task.

When you arrive, the first thing you do is go to the office, which is locked. You need to either ring a door bell, or call a cell phone, with an area code from British Columbia. Then you get to look around and see all around the door to the office and look at dead bugs, spider webs, mold and dirt all around the door area. Nasty. If they let things go so bad around the first thing you see, doesn't give you much hope for the inside of the rooms your going to rent. We had a king bed room with a shower, in the motel unit section. I believe they have been recently renovated. When my wife took her shoes off and put her bare feet on the floor, she could tell instantly that the floor was not very clean. We stayed 9 nights. We used the same bedding for 9 nights. We did take towels to them every 2 or 3 days to get clean ones. We paid full price and it wasn't that clean to begin with and they never attempted to clean anything in 9 days. They were not always easy to find, and they told me when I checked out that I had to request them to do anything. I felt I had saved them a lot of time and money and should have been given some kind of discount, but they said no. The room itself was ok. Not any charm and was not very comfortable. They did have a little desk area, and a strait chair. It was the only chair and there was no place to put a suitcase, so we used the table. The only light was in the ceiling, no table lamps. There was no place to plug in a charger. They claim to have WyFi, but the code we were given would not work. There are a few positive things to say. The king size bed was comfortable and the pillows were nice too. They had a large TV and it did have a large number of channels available. The shower was also new and nice, however, it leaked on the floor a little and the exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work. There was a nice mirror over the sink which looked nice and had a light around the boarder, however women are going to be upset when they try to put make up on or do their hair as it is too dark. I am not sure the people running the place really know what they are doing, or even care. The only other motel in town is the Wildwood. They own that too. There are a few other choices in town for either a room or cabin. I would check them out. Shelburne is a nice town, and they deserve better.

Unfortunately you won’t find any NS hospitality here. The girl at the desk was rude, unfriendly, and not one bit helpful. We were in town for the marathon and when we asked about the complimentary breakfast, we were told it was a ‘grab and go’ that included a juice, an apple, and a granola bar. This grab and go had to be picked up between 7 and 8 am only and they would not allow us to pick it up earlier. The person at the desk was cold and I could not even have a conversation with her. We were really disappointed by how we were treated and spoken to and will never return. The rooms are not worth the money. Very disappointed overall.

We had to kill about 20 flies when we first walked in room then while we we doing this we had to clean up cob webs and kill spiders all around the room. The shower had mold on the walls. The room was musty smelling. There was dust every where. We should have left but we're tired from traveling . Complained the next morning about everything all I got was I'm sorry. This was the worst place I have ever stayed in my life

Our recent stay was terrible. The rooms were filthy and smelled musty. The sheets had not been changed and the bedding smelled of severe body odour. Sheets had stains, dead bugs, and hair (including pubic). The towels were also stained. The floor was covered with a grit. When we went to get new sheets from reception, a staff member was laying on a couch barefoot. Please save your money and don’t stay here.
