We took a trip up to Yellowknife and stayed there nights at this b and b. Covid has changed some of the procedures for checkin and staying but the owners are friendly and adaptive to the situation. We stayed in the Al's hideaway suite which was perfect for our family of three and enjoyed nice peaceful evenings just a short walk from dining and the movie theater. A much needed break from the small town we live in. Just hope the Aurora tour business that is such a Yellowknife staple comes back soon. Border closures have all but decimated this charming side of the city. We will be back for another stay for sure though
The accommodation are top notch-we stayed in a suite for 4 nights in October. Our overall experience was excellent. A Lovely clean suite with all the extras such as spa tub & fireplace. Faith provided all you need for breakfast such as eggs, bacon, cereal hot & cold, coffee, tea & more. The location is great as you are 5 min walk to the Main St. No problem parking a car at the B&B. If you can catch the Northern Lights that is a bonus. We had nice weather. Faith & Ken are excellent host & will be missed when they retire.
We had a great time in Yellowknife and thanks to Faith's suggestion of downloading Northern lights photo app, we were able to see the Northern lights. The weather wasn't too favorable for viewing the lights, but we got lucky. We stayed in the shared area then on the last night moved to the Captain's suite. We slept well, it's a very clean facility. We had the pleasure of meeting Congo the parrot and Cleo the dog. Definitely would stay again.
I've stayed at the Embleton house twice and both with late night arrivals due to delayed/cancelled flights. Ken and Faith were very accommodating each time and it helped that I communicated with them the changes as soon as possible. Both times, I stayed in their 1 bedroom suite which was very comfortable and warm (which is important because Yellowknife is very cold!). There is no view but I was OK with that since I was staying for a short time. There were other people staying at the B&B and we shared a kitchen and bathroom but I didn't ever see them. If you have a lot of luggage, would be best to stay in the B&B that is upstairs (not in the basement suite).
My family and I had such a wonderful stay at Embleton House. The suites/rooms are pretty, clean and the B&B is run with love by Faith and Ken. We even had a glimpse of the Northern Lights from the roof window in the Captain's Suite! We really enjoyed our chats with Faith and I'll definitely recommend my friends to stay here. Too bad that we left hastily and didn't get to say goodbye. Hope you guys have a great winter. All the best to you and your family! Cheers from Natalie
