What an amazing experience! This was a First Class experience in every way! Every detail was very well thought out. Other than the lack of Aurora Alerts throughout the night – which I would have gladly paid for…. There are just not enough words to describe how much we enjoyed ourselves. The staff and volunteers go out of their way...

Does "you're welcome" cover how glad we are to have kind visitors like you?! Thank you so much for this wonderful review. We have worked hard to create an atmosphere that it sounds like you really enjoyed. Please come back any time, we hope to see you again in the future!

This lodge has thought of everything to make the experience unforgettable. We stayed 5 nights in a cabin called Raven's Roost. To begin this trip, we took a 30 minute (give or take) bush plane on skis to the lodge, which was an experience in itself. Upon arriving at the lodge, we were taken on a tour of the property....

Everything was amazing and beyond what we ever expected. If you do not like the wilderness, compost toilets and/or outhouses then this place is not for you. Food: Awesome...professional chef, wide range of dishes, always food to pick at throughout the day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will be full every day all day. Bathrooms: Compost toilets and outhouses. Toilet...

Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Jennifer! We're so glad you enjoyed yourself - and equally as happy that the Northern Lights put on a show for you all 3 nights you were with us. It's fantastic that you were able to make use of the equipment at the lodge, and enjoyed doing so. We hope to see...

Everything was amazing at the Blachford Lake Lodge. They were very good from the time of the room reservation, reminding guests that we should rent warm clothing and gears for the extreme cold weather. I was impressed with the availability of free wifi throughout the Lodge. There are details which they attend to, eg tripod, torches, goggles, very considerate for...

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! It is a pain that our liquor license hasn't been renewed yet, but I'm glad that didn't lower your experience (and hopefully it won't be an issue much longer! We're working on it!). It was fantastic to have you, and I'm so pleased to hear that your "gang" got along well :)...

Let me start by saying that this is a wilderness lodge. It is only accessible by plane. The plane lands on the lake; on skis in winter and on floats in summer. My husband and I stayed there for 3 nights and loved it. We went in winter and it is cold, but as long as you hire the right...

I can not recommend Blachford Lake Lodge highly enough! The lodge, cabins, location, facilities and activities are excellent. The staff and volunteers really make the Lodge the place that it is. We had a medical mishap just prior to arrival at the lodge and could not believe the caring and supportive nature of all involved. From Mike, the owner and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Blachford Lake Lodge, a family run business for over 30 years, is the only fly-in wilderness resort situated on Blachford Lake (60 miles south-east of Yellowknife). The 25-minute bush plane flight from Yellowknife is often considered as one of the highlights of a trip to Blachford. We pride ourselves on complimenting your northern experience with great food, a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and dedicated customer service. Our winter season (January to April) offers great opportunities to watch the aurora (northern lights), to go snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, hiking, ice-fishing or simply to relax in the hot tub.Our summer season (June to October) offers great fishing. Canoe or kayak under the midnight sun (June/July) or hike one of the many nature trails. By late summer (mid August) the aurora becomes more visible again and one can watch the northern lights being reflected in the water. Anytime, feel royally when you follow the paths that William and Kate walked during their Royal visit at Blachford Lake Lodge in July 2011. ... more   less
